#12) Naked Eyes

Last night

the moon

like god’s own streetlamp

lit up the sky.

Only a lake

could serve as mirror

to reflect it’s boundless glory.

A canopy

of stars

above

my naked eyes.

Stealth Mode

For the glory of my country

Over the lake I ride

Resplendent in my Jeep

My weapon glinting in the light

Moon overhead shining bright.

I’m hunting tonight.

Anticipation rides deep within my breastbone

The wind howls over the plains

I see it in the distance.

My prey, so it begins.

Onomatopoeia

imageONOMATOPOEIA
The zooming cars deafen the quiet silence
with their beeping horns.
The grinding metal crashing against the pavement
spoofs the crowing crows and buzzing bees
that seek refuge in the wailing weeping willows.
The chirping sparrows and hovering hummingbirds
zap away and meet with thundering clouds.
Tangled balloons pop themselves free
from the coiled string; the string snaps dead.
Leaves wrapped in balloon plastic spiral downward
and their rustling sound frightens the fluttering butterfly.
The yapping mutt growls at the tangled string
but merrily chases the butterfly senseless.
Another sonorous call from the clouds
sends shivers that send mutt and me home
wth a banging rush.

Hour Twelve: Stipulations for receiving

For my last official poem of the day, I followed the prompt.

Don’t panic
You may feel that there’s not a minute to spare
but the moon is not bound by your constraints

If you cannot hear her whispers at midnight
do not be alarmed
she has not deserted you

She will not reveal herself before you’re ready

The wait may be agonizing
but she will not appear before you a moment sooner
not until the lake is ripe to receive her

Then her reflected glory will be your reward
only then will you understand

The emblem on her breastbone serves a purpose
this will not be revealed

Simply accept that she is here for you
and act accordingly

(13 August 2016)

Up there…

She was up with kissing another man
She was up there holding his hand
She was up there making love in the dark
She was up there and he was down here with a broken heart.

Lady Lannae =)

(Hour 9)

5 PM

I used to imagine the afterlife
A sparkling city with a dark sky
Literal golden mansions
Where flawless people picked fruit from backyard orchards
And bathed in clear waters
Walking on diamond covered river

Now when I do think of heaven
My mind is blank– there’s no scenery
I only picture the immense feelings
Of loving purely– and being loved
Multiplied by infinity
