The Truth In Lies Poem#8

24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
EeeeGads!
It’s that time again.
Oh that I were 30 years younger and knew then
How demoralizing health insurance would be
for baby boomers!
I’d have stashed away all my petty cash,
Now I know why they called it “petty”!
I’d have put more pockets in my bloomers,
Left room for more than tissues!
There’d be nice deep pockets for 100’s and 50’s with extra velcro!
By now my piggy-bank would rival any bull on wallstreet,
And I could negotiate and shop for the best doctors.
Oh my!
What to buy!
Medicare Advantage or a Supplement?
Advantage schmantage!
I don’t even like glitzy sneakers!
Supplement? I thought they were vitamins and
I have a drawer full.
Who knew…
So, it’s that time again…
What to do???
Darling
Turn up your mouth
Push the ends to the sky
Share the joy of your soul with me
Please smile
Abrupt, full of doubt, steady movement
swollen ankles, motion sickness
broken charger, new journal 5 pages full,
heavy clouds, cool breezes, police lights,
hotel rooms, bus rides, unfinished apartment, cancelled debit card, missing my kids,
sleeping on floor, broken friendship, airports
dead cousin, funeral, pregnancy, hail storm,
totaled car, new job, new daycare, new strangers,
and I would do it all again
minus the cousin and funeral part
something about being alone.
Under the moist blanket of pine needles
and cool, dark, loose soil,
early afternoon,
though the veil of pine trees dropping
its shroud of duskiness over the forrest;
and in places we looked yesterday,
we find popping up those familiar
dark veiny fungus popping up over the grove;
soon our afternoon crop will be cleaned
and become part of a supper also
gleaned from the land –
our land fertile and abundant.

Let me tell you the story of the things that I did
To silence one of the dual voices in my head
Let me confess to you the sins which I so lately hid
Unearth my past mistakes and return them from the dead
Once I was haunted, ever hunted by my darkest side
My mathematics grew erratic, my sciences fell mad
Broken, I was taken and found release within my Hyde
We began work on an abomination, a new vessel for our dyad
Parts and pieces, bits and bones, a heart torn from its cage
We pillaged and we plundered all, foul deeds and filthy means
A golem of our base desires, born bleeding from our rage
Inherited of our insidious genes, gestated in our infernal machines
We worked with fevered frenzy moulding ichors, adipose, guck
Daydream sewn to nightmare sewn to fantasy
Boredom sewn to suffering sewn to ecstasy
Everything we had we spent by the time the lightning struck
The last patchwork piece affixed in its place
The flesh for its features cut from my own face
My secret sickness now made manifest for all the world to see
I created a monster, and the monster is me

9 am End
An End
1.Ending means excitement
wait is over
Baby arrives
Christmas is here
Paradise claimed
Celebration begins
2.—never forget
I can never forget
So, the day began
as always with a call from the nurse
at my doorway
not sure where I am
or why there is a nurse calling to me
the breakfast tray comes
the eggs look familiar
taste like nothing
didn;t I have this same meal
yesterday?
or another day?
A cheerful young woman
fluffs my pillow as I sit
up and murmmurs something
about activities
she seems familiar.
Still another girl
cones in to help me dress.
When did I acquire servants?
Around mid-day I hear something
something that indeed I do recognize
a voice.
“Hi Mom, How are you today?”
A kiss.
She loves me. It;s my daughter.
That I never can forget.
Sky colors burst into a riot of red and purple
Birds streaked by on their way home
I spied a sliver of moon in the bit of blue
remaining
then sun closed down his light
disappearing into the water
Horizon line blurred as dark water and dark sky
slowly became one
as darkness spread.
4.Write a ten line poem
Then add ten more, interspersed
Then take away eight
Who is sleeping
I woke up in the middle of the night
The frogs were calling out
So loudly
I loked out side the window
Saw a cat by the endege of the pon
Was he awtcing for a stry carp
Those were mostly heron prey
Was he watching for a frog
Was that to be his food today
Itappedn onteh window pane
——–oops I have exceeded the ten
To see if when I saw his face
I would rcognixe the cat
As coming from someone someplace
I knew
For someohoen that feline
Shape
Silver fur under silver moon seemed quite
Familiar to me
Then I have to bring it to an end
What happens when the cat turns toward me
Computers are they our friends?
No, unlike dogs they
Do not love us to the end
Blow my mind
Its what you do so well
When you let me catch a glimpse of your brilliant mind
I want to dive on in
Get engulfed in your hopes and dreams
The way you love life so passionately
You say you are average at best
Buy my love
If you could see what I see
You would understand you are far superior to the rest
7th out 12
When I see you now, I look,
an observer, free from prejudice,
Glean information, see subtle changes
No conversation needed
And please don’t notice I’ve looked
Nothing’s new again
Still don’t want you.
