TRIBUTE TO AMERICA

Let all American’s shout,

We are strong we have clout.

We will shed no tear,

Our nation has no fear.

Armies a real fighting force,

Ours boys stay the course.

They will protect us all,

Watching the enemy fall.

Our flag in the sunshine,

Our country one of a kind.

Greatest nation on earth,

That GOD gave birth.

Love is not a Feeling 18/24

(I’ve chosen the saying “Love is not a feeling” to demonstrate the fact, because so many people think that love is a feeling)

Love is not a feeling –
It’s an act of the will, they say…
But here is how I perceive it –
A lifetime commitment,
renewed every day…

And in that light, my darling
Allow me to tell you this –
Each moment I love you even more
Than the previous moment of bliss…

You fill my entire being,
All my dreams and ideals are in you
As you capture
my thoughts and my feelings
In a love that is faithful and true…

So please take my hand –
Look right into my eyes –
Say you’re fully committed
To me… as I am to you…

Poem #12: Outside Looking In

Outside Looking In

Taking place under the same sky
a defensive edge unexpectedly sharp
yellow lights of caution cause reactions
within the souls of the well known
signs of stress coming in fours
incomplete thoughts search for a point
within months of forgotten dollars
the internal struggle will soon be forgiven

Soul

Like warm southern breeze.

Inside of my soul.

When his love is so sweet.

Tender caress on my soul.

Hour 21–Possum

It was naptime

I jumped around my room

until I heard Mom coming up the stairs

I dove into bed and properly covered up

She entered and stood by the bed silently

This makes no sense to me now, but as a kid

I had been told an important truth:

People stop breathing when they sleep

To complete the ruse and get away with it

I lay there motionless

The tiniest of breaths moving in and out

my face positioned strategically toward the wall

She had to believe I was asleep

I tortured myself in the ploy

Mom played her role with dead silence

and waited while her gullible boy

played possum

You,
My champions,
Carry me so I forget where I stand.
You march through life unburdened,
Your fingers in my hand.

I remember when we met,
We were much younger then,
But as we collect memories,
Shaking off the yolk of men.

Together when we were dreaming,
Of the better place we knew the world could be.
With every summer, winter, summer,
Hope drifts further from our dreams.

World of Books

For a hurricane of puns,
And allusions by the ton,
You know there can be just one:

Jokes about the written word,
Are not just for grammar nerds,
Who delights in the absurd?

If by plot-holes you are vexed,
Sub-text leaving you perplexed?

Or if magic’s what you’re after,
Who saves quarkbeasts from disaster,
With some string and sticking plaster?

Each new world of his devising
Is as rich as it’s surprising,
Who can keep the tension rising?

My Cell Phone 17/24

My cell phone is my life line
If anything weird should happen
That’s the only thing I’ll grab…
I know I have a lot of stuff
My pc is also important,
But without my cell phone
I’m alone when I need help
So yes, I’ll grab my cell phone
