Tanka

Angry storms die out

In a soft murmur of rains,

And the sun breaks free

Bathing the soaked new-born cats

In saving warmth and new hope.

Dreamcatcher

A magic web

Of threads and beads

A crystal

Centred there.

Capture darkness

Let through light

Bad dreams

Are held in there.

Close your eyes

Rest easy now

Sweet dreams

Are on their way.

Bells

Can you hear

The bells ring?

They call us in to dine.

A feast of truth

Awaits us,

The knowledge of all time.

Drink from the cup

And pass it round

Together we shall dine.

graduation blues

the day after
high school graduation
is supposed to feel like
a new beginning
it felt like a detour
i wanted to make a u-turn
but i can’t even drive
i guess the first
sixteen years of life
are building
the next two are
trial
and one day you walk out of a place
that holds all your memories
for the last time
and nobody is holding your hands
or laughing as you slam a locker
they tell you it gets better
parents are practiced liars:
1) it does not
get better
2) we do not find out who are real friends are
we make worse ones
3) we do not pick up where we left off
with every old friend,
4) we do not
find ourselves
in college
we get lost
in the streets
in the sheets,
we get lost
because we are lead are whole lives
without asking.
our majors
are pieces of paper
we are taught
they define us
we lose our names to occupations and salaries
we never lose
weight or debt

growing up
just means adding
and you don’t
get any stronger
to carry it

Busy World

How I wish that I could show you

all the beauty I can see,

from the rainbow reaching overhead,

to the world beneath the sea,

the glint of sun onĀ  window panes,

washed clean by winter’s gift,

the way the grass moves and sways

when touched by wind’s soft kiss,

perhaps the sight of new-born birds,

that herald in the spring,

so many simple joys forgotten,

in this busy world we’re in.

Back to School 11PM

It’s back to school time

Buses will be on the roads early

It’s back to school time

Children will be getting up early

It’s back to school time

Time for everyone to be busy learning.

Rose bud

If flowers were alive, would you pick them up?

As the earth corrodes, will you take a stand?

When the pain is unbearable, will you end it all?

Do you eternally long for a happy

ever after.

How deep are your roots?

Deep enough to last

a lifetime?

Caged

A bird in a cage
Always wanting to

Fly
Can you keep it there
Without it biting off your

Hand

One day
you’ll blink
And the bird will soar
Away
