Poetry Marathon 22
My name is Sundar I am hoping to enter 12 poems. It would be lovely when the muse comes in abundance and the poems just flow spontaneously. This is every poet’s dream. Wishing the best of luck to all fellow poets. Sundar

I am so pumped to be a part of this event again this year.
I did the half last year and i had a blast, so this year I’m going for the full 24.
I can’t wait to meet everyone.
Kudos to the organisers for this beautiful event.
Hi everyone,
My name is Idris Braimoh. I am a poet from Nigeria. I have been writing poetry since high school and I am finally publishing some of my poems this year.
I joined this marathon to get my creative juices flowing and I can’t wait to see where this road takes me.
I would like to thank the organisers for giving me this opportunity to express myself.
This is my first marathon….even counting the running kind. Poetry is my jam, but so is sleep and countless other distractions. Stay tuned to see which vice prevails!
Hi Everyone!
What I put in my application was pretty thorough (because I was excited!), so I’ll post an excerpt from that.
“I have been wanting to write a sort of imitation of ’13 Ways of Looking at a Blackbird’ for while, 13 short poems called ’13 Ways of Looking at a Waterfall.’ I love to hike and waterfalls are a top destination. I live about 2 hours from the Appalachian foothills (near the N. Georgia/N. Carolina/S. Carolina borders) and there are dozens of trails to waterfalls in the area.
To prepare, I will look over Wallace Stevens’ original poem, look at photographs of favorite waterfalls, brainstorm sensory imagery I could use, and make a list of short forms I might want to try. I don’t usually use forms, but it’s fun for the challenge sometimes. I wrote a pantoum about a waterfall a couple of months ago, so that could be poem #13. I’m sure I will also be doing some field research!”

I’m not sure how long I’ve been doing the Half Marathon, but I look forward to it every year. In addition to poetry, I write essays for The Oklahoma Observer and magazine pieces for Okie Charmed, a women’s magazine. I’m good with deadlines. Without them, I struggle to keep the focus on my writing.
I have a garden, chickens, dogs, cats, and a man. I teach Tai Chi two days a week and host a monthly poetry reading. I have a need to keep moving, but The Poetry Marathon is a day to focus, to set everything else aside.
My name is Jana. I’m 34 years old and live in West Virginia. I’m married with 3 human kids and 8 fur kids. I have been writing poetry for years but didn’t publish anything until 2020. This is my 3rd or 4th year participating in the half marathon.
Hi friends! My name is Presley. This is my first time participating in the marathon. I am joining my mother(hi mom!) Amanda who has participated before and I’m looking forward to writing with you all!
So great to be gearing up for my second Poetry Marathon. I am excited and a little anxious I must admit. Still I am waiting for that first poem that you type with trembling fingers and a heart beating wildly in your chest.
Let’s go poets and make this a great Poetry Marathon.
This is my second year of participating and I can’t wait!!! So excited to be here, see you all soon! And yes, I know there’ll be some great poetry to read too!
