(for hour 6—from music prompt—for Onweald)
Bring Her Home
(by the character Nigel Taiman)
Amid the dark of my bower
When the dragon form has me
However it’s possible
I ache more for her return
Some part of me
Believes she can come home
Believes the gods can collectively sacrifice
And bring her home
Amid the dim of breaking dawn
When the dragon form leaves me
Crafting my bones and skin
To emptiness without her
Some part of me
Believes she can come home
Believes the gods can collectively sacrifice
And bring her home
Amid the hopelessness of days
When the dragon form resides
Plots and hides within me
Bruising all that I am
Some part of me
Believes she can come home
Believes the gods can collectively sacrifice
And bring her home
Wow! The yearning is incredibly strong. Hint of sadness. Unrequited love perhaps. Thank you. I would love to read the book that inspired this poem.
Thank you. The character who “wrote” this poem is from the Choices Meant for Gods series, which a new publisher is re-releasing for me because the original publisher closed its doors at the end of 2019. I love this dude…
I will definitely keep my eyes open for it! I really would love to read it.
You know, I once forgot I had submitted a poem that was to be published by one publisher that got sued for something else so they dropped it, the next publisher took it but went bankrupt, as did the 3rd publisher. In the end, after something like 8 years, it finally came out – by the original publisher! hahahahaha
Publishing is such a weird industry.
