The sound bubbles up out of his chest
as he watches Sally, our Pyrenees,
run the perimeter of the place.
She’s on duty, only stopping to sniff,
until she makes it back to her starting place
at our feet. She drops, rolls onto her back,
and waits for a belly rub.
She likes his sound, that happy sound,
as much as I do.
Home cooked food and a dog
who takes her job seriously.
The former makes him smile,
the latter bubbles up out of him
until we all feel the joy.
This pup poem is great!! I can feel all that love for Sally and her antics!!
Thank you!
I love what you did with the laughter prompt. I have recently started doing pet-sits and dogs really do bring out the joy in us!
Thank you. Sally is a rescue that has overcome a lot, and she brings out the joy in everyone.
