I’ll not let sorrow have my tears
My sorrows are full enough,
Overflowing and spreading drearily across my life
Eclipsing my sunrises
Shrouding my stars
I’ll not let sorrow have my tears
To shrink themselves into less,
Washing away guilt
Cleansing the soul
Stealing meaning from my sadness
I’ll not let sorrow have my tears
To comfort the pain,
Keeping the hurt within me
Enduring like a martyr
Baptizing as if divine
Rather than drown in swells of sorrow
I’m saving my tears for joy
Whenever it comes.
I’ll let joy burst out with my tears
Very real and I felt this very deeply. I was sad but glad for the sweet ending.
Beautiful. Love the strength and defiance in this.
This is wonderful! Such a well phrased ending. The way you transition from one to the other is so well done.
I’ll Not Let Sorrow Have My Tears…I loved this line. “Saving My Tears ” is wonderful. I love everything about this poem. I love the repetition, the pace, the tone and the twist..” I’ll let joy burst out my tears…Beautiful line, poem construction-everything! This is one of my choices.
“I am saving my tears for joy.”
Strong lines, vivid emotions, it takes the reader to a climax of hope.
