Sleep
I have not forsaken thee
My brain corralled my body bright
To stay awake the chunk of night
and hover through the live long day
to where we sit at nightly bay
Oh, shriek, Oh sing
I take my leave
to let my heavy body heave
to meet the bed
perchance to dream
a lovely dream
of sleep
I think we can all agree that we felt like this by hour 24! The giddy exhaustion that filled us all! You did awesome putting it into words.
Great ending to a wonderful 24 hours.
I have never tried to do the 24 hours version, but your poem lets me feel as if THIS is exactly how it would feel at the end. Nicely done. I noticed your mixing in of rhyme and near-rhymes — that too is nicely done, 🙂
Such a wonderful rhythm to this poem, and you came up with this in the last hour! Wow!
