Poem 08 – Ahab is Angry

Angry dude has a vendetta against an aquatic mammal
That allegedly took off his leg because it’s CRAZY
But inasmuch as maligned whales are concerned,
What about the arrogance of man, and the hate-on for
Nature
And other things outside of the control of patriarchy
A need to punish, neglecting that an eye-for-an-eye
Leaves the whole world without the ability to
See beauty

  1. A brutal reveal of the core of this “great masterpiece.” I love questioning the authority of the canon in this take. The “hate-on” isn’t lost on me, with its connection to the patriarchy. So gross, yet such a precise metaphor. Love seeing this alternative perspective on a story which gets enough props – yet truly does need to be challenged.
