The house for generations stood,
Gently cared for
Now lays abandoned
Four decades, that’s where they stayed
Where they shared, cried, laughed and played.
Ivy has taken over the south side
Growing under the easements
Leaving nothing to hide
Its covered up the windows
Taken over the rain gutter spouts
Twisting and climbing, trying to block it out
The walkway now over grown with weeds
Wild flowers and dandelions,
spill their sacred seed
The driveway now cracked and uprooted,
The tree that was planted, too closely suited
The house sad now, cries out
Why did the family leave
