The Poetry Marathon

my voice plus one
plus theirs 
plus yours 
plus one 
this is what makes a movement 

On a full moon All Hallows Eve 
the forest it did call me 
in the center a clearing 
a fire so bright 
surrounded by sisters 
who flew through the night 
from near and from far 
we gathered to play 
around the fire we danced 
from dusk till less day 
chanting a song of old goddess past 
planting our wishes and dreams to last 
we are the sisters of night blessed be
otherwise known as witches this eve
under a full moon we dance we wish we dream
and when the sun rises we take coffee with cream

There was this one guy 
he tried so hard to impress
holding open doors 
and dressing his best 
my heart was softened but not to swoon
till he made me a mix tape
it sent me over the moon

you hold my heart with two hands
while yours is beating out of your chest

I remember when flying 
was a nervous wreck about take off and landing 
I remember when flying 
was a quick trip in and out
I remember when flying 
was a trip without taking your shoes off 
I remember when flying 
wasn't a ziploc bag filled with liquids
I remember when flying 
was just flying

Nature is my mother
she has held my hand and wiped my tears 
in dew covered blades of grass she carries me 

nature is my mother 
covering me through the winds
and showing me to have faith in new beginnings 

nature is my mother 
in old trees that have fallen 
and springs that wash my bloodied mind

nature is my mother 
and in her frail moments 
I hold her hand and wipe her tears 
through winds of change

nature is our mother 
and we are children of the Earth

Morning rise 
before the sun
clip it on 
begin the count
10,000 the goal 
but today is more like one
my feet carry heavy on the ceiling below
and being in lockdown 
there is no room to roam
back and forth 
pacing 
trying to hit 5k
getting told I am loud 
adds to my dismay
What is one to do 
when everyone is so mad
and steps are the only thing 
that makes my heart glad

Rest my peaceful warrior
you were not meant to guard the nights
demons of guilt leave hearts heavy
and you need strength to fight
rest my peaceful warrior
the sun will shine again
there you show your courage
when the days begin
weather of blood or of storm
you are my braveheart
rest my peaceful warrior
wake with a fresh start

Where dragons breath meets fire
and blades of grass become those of steel
I find myself a not so innocent stranger 
in this world that seems unreal
cloaked in robes of finery 
a crown upon my brow 
a nod for the passerby 
that assumes I deserve a bow
not a normal faire of sorts 
but I try to carry it well
when I say goodbye to my past 
and announce fare thee well

Under a full moon the raven casts a shadow
I can no longer see my limbs 
but the raven walks for me 
I can no longer see my surroundings 
but the raven leads the way 
my eyes have become dark pools filled with magick
and the raven has become my guide
trust in me he says 
trust in the journey 
as I take you home
hesitantly I follow 
knowing my heart has been searching for home 
and if under a ravens moon is where I belong 
so shall it be
