Nice. I’m starting to appreciate the Haiku more and more. You did a good job of going from the single image to the larger context of where the image came from and then to the emotion of your mother. We’e left to wonder why she is proud. Did she take the picture? Did she always want to travel to Hilo? Is she from Hilo?

This made me think of the fruit kitchen decor that used to be popular many years ago. I can imagine the photo of mangoes hanging in the kitchen wall with the wacky fruit magnets on the fridge, the fruit curtains, fruit wall paper and matching plates.
