The sleepy lagoon murder still remains a mystery,

Cause the one who killed Jose Gallardo Diaz is still free.

 

It was 1942,

In the midst of world war 2,

Who knew that Los Angeles would soon be warrring too.

 

After few were arrested, no guilt was admitted,

falsely arrested and soon were acquitted.

 

Soon thereafter, the media, engulfed in fear and rage,

Made a villanous Chicano face grace their front page.

 

Public enemy number one in subunit groups,

as white hands snatched brown bodies out of zoot suits.

 

Yet, the culprit of this attrocity is still somewhere free,

And the sleepy lagoon murder remains a mistery.
