A Song of Hope

A Song of Hope

But the night of tears

Shall give way soon enough

To a morning that’s filled

With a shout of triumph

And with a song of joy

For, lo, we have waited for thee

O sound of joy that

Makes tomorrow perfect

Like the countenance of a bride on

Her wedding day

For our tambourines and strings

Have long been tuned

And now are quiet, patient, waiting for thee

To declare jubilee at the dawn of joy

Prompt 9 – Turf

All that glitters isn’t gold
Unfortunately, most people love the brilliance of things
And most things nowadays are built like shit
You’re drawn in with the most lavish features
but software malfunctions like a bitch.

Lost in Spokane ~To get lost, is to learn the way.

Outside, it’s 91 degrees, which

reminds me of the time I felt lost

but wasn’t. I was at the movie

theatre in Spokane, River Park Square,

waiting for my sister. We would

see a movie together and then eat chicken

sauté with peanut sauce afterward

at the outside restaurant. While I waited,

children raced about and shoppers

strolled past—everyone tanned and cool

in the air-conditioned mall. Suddenly, I felt

lost, panicky…which didn’t make sense.

At last, my sister showed up, all bubbly

and full of fun. That moment, imperceptibly,

the feeling left me. We bought popcorn

and Cokes and found our seats. I told

her what had happened. I don’t remember

what she said, but perhaps it was something

like: Did you drink enough water?

*It’s 100 in Spokane today. 112 by Tuesday.

Hour 9

The sea reminds me of your eyes-

those beautiful eyes I get lost in.

The waves relax me and I would like to

sunbathe with you under the Ibiza sky! 😍

Kitchen Levitation

I decide I’ve spent enough time

Between these walls

For the past 15 months

That I can walk around eyes closed

Navigate by hologram burned into retina

Muscle memory taking over

Knowing the constant steps between

Fridge and trash

Fridge and recycling

Fridge and compost

Nice compact metaphors for life

The consuming

The dropping

And the repetitive steps in between

A measurable distance

So I try it

And walk towards the direction I need to go

Eyes closed

Light changing on my eyelids

As a window makes itself known

That’s when it happens

There are no walls

There is no walking

There are no things

And up I go

As if beams had tractors

To plow them

In neat orderly rows

And I realize

Where the hell am I

Water is the driving force of all nature.  (Leonardo de Vince)

Image Prompt

Struggling

My thoughts are getting slower

My eyelids closing lower

My brain is loosing it’s ability to think

I feel like I might just sleep if I so much as blink

Lying on a warm bed while writing this was a mistake

But a risk I was willing to take

Now I’m not sure if I’m filled with regret

My drowsiness is making me forget

It’s so weird because all the other nights I was able to stay awake

Now all I want to do is close my eyes and take a break

But I know that if I do that I’ll fall into a deep sleep

So my eyes open I shall keep (I hope)

Is my words even making sense

If it’s not, I’m sorry, my minds gone dense

See, I don’t even understand what I just wrote

I’m struggling to stay afloat

The idea off drifting of into a deep, peaceful sleep is so appealing

How do I get rid of this tiredness I’m feeling

Plus it’s not even yet twelve

And I’m already feeling sorry for myself

Anyway, I’m gonna have to be awake for a couple more hours

So let’s hope I don’t *insert word that rhymes with hour and makes sense*

Never Say Never

Hour 1, Prompt 9, Year 2021

Never say never
Because you know not what tomorrow brings
Because this may be the last time you can see someone
Or the last time you can visit a place

Never say never
Because tomorrow may be the end of our everyday
Of mornings, of nights, of beautiful sights
Of movement, of diversity, of life itself

Never say never
Because 250 million years ago, dinosaurs, not humans, ruled the world
Until one day, they were brought to their knees
While earth, space, and universe plowed on

So never say never, and live in the moment
Because time is a beast of its own
It compresses and shifts and upturns with no warning
Changing our world in unimaginable ways

Friendly Persuasion

When you look at me that way it makes my heart lose all control.
My resolve is never as strong as when you are near.
I would never allow anyone to do the things you do.It must be that friendly persuasion that convinces me to trust in you.

I have a mind to do what’s right and a strong resolve to find my own way.
Leave the crowd behind as long as I am pressing toward the mark, but your friendly persuasion always gets in my way.
