Cry Hallelujah With A Desperate Heart

Cry hallelujah with a desperate heart
from which all crosses carried hard shall bear
The fruit of His word and love of His art

Prayers expressed as words with an empty breath
Upon deaf ears shall they fail to ensnare
Cry hallelujah with a desperate heart.

Blessings design the escape of one’s death
Feast at the banquet of His praised affair
The fruit of His word and love of His art

Bound to existing in a living death
Sin a folly, with belief one is spared
Cry hallelujah with a desperate heart

Race for His love as it catches your breath
To deliver from the depths of despair
The fruit of His word and love of His art

Belief in Him, you will overcome death
Never shall you find love greater elsewhere
Cry hallelujah with a desperate heart
The fruit of His word and love of His art

Summer Nights (20th Hour 2020)-prompt

The cascading indigo dusk would blanket the summer’s eventide

While orange yellow lights would glow in the skies

Slowly in a rhythm one by one they would shine

A magnitude of beetles glorifying the evening’s lullabies

A real life rendition of van Gogh’s starry night

Amplified by the beauty of nature and her fireflies

Mind’s a Flame…

Mind’s a candle flame

Desireless, it is tame,

With gusts of passion,

Its vitality turns ashen before the light dims,

There’s much it brings wisdom, and knowledge gives the mind high wattage.

A candle can light many, if the flame is steady as the mind’s light spreads,

It gives knowledge legs, sheltering the mind’s flame and sharing becomes the aim.

The mind continues to remain bright, After the sun retires for the night.

#20 Guiding Light

Your eyes always twinkled,

they spoke their own language,

Always shining like they were secretly laughing

Just out of pure joy.

They had fire, those eyes,

they showed the ridiculous strength you possessed,

Hard with suffering, yet soft with love,

they were like a lighthouse to my wandering soul,

But now they have extinguished,

And I’m lost.

Night Prompt 2o

Talk or sleep?
Close in the dark, he asked
I reply, artificial light gives me headaches
you are welcome to stay
but only if you stay quiet
I dislike noise
my ears have become accustomed to my own snore
I dread conversating
more at night
when my eyes flicker
fighting the inevitable that tiredness brings

the moon gives too much light sometimes
in opposite moments darkness is a gift
the interior of my brain
paints vivid tales
I feel my hunger approach, like a long distance phone call
soliciting subconsciously
for a different story
as I lay in the night
wanting to lose the illusion
daylight brings

No talking, just sleep.

More

A woman I know
mid-fifties
went protesting
first timer

missing out as
teenager
with strict parents
she wanted
‘self-fulfillment’
wanted understanding
of what had been
never missed

Seeing her a few
days later I
asked if she found
what she
had been seeking

“Yes and no” she
smiled,
ruefully
“I fell in with a
group of
college kids who
poured milk
on my face”
quickly adding
“for the tear gas!”

Her voice trailed.
“it wasn’t
at all
about me”

I nodded.
She beseeched

“Please tell me
that I really didn’t
go there for me”

I nodded again
“I think you did”
as she frowned
“Now, here you are.”
I concluded

We stood there
silently until a
summer breeze
kicked up dust

“Maybe you’re right”
she said, smiling
with new buoyancy

“I’m going to need
some more
goddamned milk.”

Prompt #20: God’s Everlasting Light

In the dark of night when the demons slip in and out of dreams
A dim light is off in the distance.
In the night sky stars twinkle to remind us that we are a part of something larger.
When we are in the dark crevasses of depression,
God tells us that we will be ok.
He reminds us that He is always there.
He is the light in the dark.
Our hedge of protection when demons come to invade God’s plan for us.

H20: Aglow

stars dim, one by one,

as the Sun

gathers

all light

to its vanity,

stealing even from the moon,

the garden lights,

the streetlights,

luminescent eyes of the night.

In dark obeisance,

they bow

to Helios’

vibrant glow.

Candles Turn Bulbs To Sunlight(Prompt 20)

it started with a smirk,

she lighted my candles with the smallest of sparks,

she then made eyecontact,

i was baited,

the blessing i got from Christ to write,

about moments so pure,

her smirk lit the candle stick that was my attention,

the smirk turned into a grin,

hooked,

the struggle was to shy away from the eyecontact,

maybe she felt like i was the one,

maybe the same way i was feeling,

still hooked,

mentally shook,

looked at my zip,

thinking the look was because i was unhooked,

i’m wearing joggers!

emotionally took,

to the bleachers,

the bulb switched on,

she had planted her roots,

here’s a little boy in a man’s body,

shacking to my boots,

smirk bait,

grin bait,

the voice atook,

dragged me to cloud 9,

wait she made the fist move,

you slack again,

still deep in my thoughts,

accepting the in my presence God’s angel,

who had done one over me,

bait, hook and took,

i stopped starring,

her face beautiful,

afraid if i gaze too long i’ll be awestruck,

the arrival of a kind sun,

she was made for me,

well i thought so,

the sun sets too,

but our frequent on and off romances lit my insecurities out in the open,

her souls sun burnt them crisp,

it was all too much to handle,

the more i spent time with her,

the more i became tipsy,

i thank God for her,

Moonlight

Hazy moonlight shines on me

me who had long been accustomed

to darkness, to cold

It lights up my surroundings

and somehow my dead eyes as well

That’s what the reflection shows

the reflection in a blood red pond

under the hazy moonlight

I couldn’t recognise it at first

then it became clear

It was me no doubt but

What’s with this shadow looming

behind me, still in dark even under

the hazy moon-
