Let It Be

because it already is all it can be.

they always try to change it, try to make it into something its not

without realizing it peaked years ago. if they can get past their own biases,

maybe they’ll finally understand why we bask in our own

quality as we hurtle towards whatever end

fate has in store for us

Come Together

it’s the only way we’ll survive.

you can’t pretend we’re not all driving the same vehicle that is life

that’s what make us special

separate yet unique

how we can be ourselves in a lifetime of dichotomy.

if we are to discover our own identity,

only then will we able to know others.

Get Back

That’s the dream: return to the status quo and revel in your own gratification

regress to an existence that can no longer sustain itself

but the sad fact is where you once belonged no longer exists.

It has metamorphosed into something no longer recognizable to

anyone but you.

When I first got there, I was irate but, more than anything,

I was just exhausted.

I thought my presence there indicated societal rejection

like I was a failure at failing.

Turns out it was acceptance in disguise.

But that’s the truth of it all; stuck is nothing more than a state of mind

and, with the right people in your corner, no power in the world can stop you from breaking free

H.13 – Meander

One step then another, another on and on.

We start under stars, Venus bright above us,

a trickle of light silhouetting the trees on the hill.

Lights float in darkness, the ocean singing invades

our bodies, as we reach the cliffs. We walk in silence

listeningto thr earths voice as we follow the path deep

intothe wild, we rest watching the sky, stars disappearing,

sunlight reaching around the earths rough curves. We

turn retracing our steps, but not our thoughts, One

step, then another, another on and on.

Revolution

It was sparked in Minneapolis and quickly spread all around the world.

there’s no end in sight in more ways than one

but the success and progress being made is undeniable.

even as the world continues to burn,

we can see the hose on the horizon.

when ever single person on the face of the planet

is treated equally,

that’s when revolution becomes institution

Ocean Prayer, Hour 13

Deep breath

Inhale salt spray

Scan swells, stretch shoulders

Time the set

Plunge into the crashing waves

Return to source of everything

To where that first fish slithered onto the beach gasping for air

Where that first single-celled amoeba divided,

Setting off evolutionary chain that led to this moment.

Settle into rhythm of stroke,

Breath

Stroke

Breath

Stroke…

Until movement and breath fade into unconscious flow

Flowing through primordial womb of all life on this planet, waves crashing, splashing face until the break fades behind and the open ocean opens my mind to encompass all life, dancing to gentle tidal rhythm

Swimming through the sea

As if it was the infinite, the physical transfers to mental, to spiritual and back again, all to the rhythm of tidal swells and…

Breath

Stroke

Breath

Stroke…

Out to the edge of the bay and back again, return back into physical and time sets back to the shore

Slide out of that salty womb to stand back on sand,

Turn to face the majesty with a nod of gratitude and one more…

Deep breath

Inhale salt spray

This is how I pray

Hey, Jude

i just want you to know i’m here for you

whatever you need. you’ve always been perched on my shoulder

and turnabout is fair play. i carry the planet

around so you don’t have to.

i know it can be scary venturing out on your own for the first time

but i’m ready, willing and able to help you carry on

to the very end, bitter or otherwise
