Lois

Everything I know of me I know because of you.

Without your love, my existence wouldn’t have a clue.

My literal identity is bridged inside your smile.

My heart reaches through eternity, connecting through the miles.

Thank you for being the one to teach me family has a meaning.

Keep guiding my path, I can feel your spirit intervening.

23 – fingernails-

Distance is a bridge we can never cross,

memory the only place we survive,

the hunger in your eyes, echoed by mine,

our surrender complete, then fate

dealt her hand, I remain an echo walking

through years and you dust turning to land.

What’s Between You And I…

As I  sit under

Chihuily Sky

Reflections from

the lighting

sculpted another

oceanic painting

that tangoed above

lettered men

Glass columns

framed in

aluminum

guarded the

kitchen dancing

silverware

castenetas doing a

stilleto waltz

trance across the

white table cloth

And I, the invisble

woman sit

and people pass by

and I am furniture

30’s music bounce

along the walls

fantastic

It’s Friday and cold

I cried too many

times this week

Saying I’m sorry

Being told I’m sorry

I

look

I

write

poor

pour

Under Chihuily

Skies

A white girl stood

in front of me

and said sorry

The whole week

In a split second

fell like an anvil

on

my

head

I was sorry

not

Oh, so sorry

I left quickly

enforce trouble had

a holiday

for sitting on a

bench under

Chihuily sky

I fought back the tears

in my special place

of beauty

Never to return

writing poems

to an imaginary lover

Trying not to do

something stupid

and

chose

life

Thinking of your

beautiful Chihily

eyes

and my new

thriftstore coat

HOUR14

Secret encounter

How many frog elbows do I have to kiss

in the evening so that I finally

find my prince in broad daylight?

I put on my raincoat and go to

the lake to find out the answer.

But what a surprise to find you there!

Who are you? It does not matter,

our readers will never discover

because it must remain a mystery!

Finish the Race

As the sun rises her tears dry from the heat

pushing the limits of her body, mind, and spirit.

The finish line is just around the corner and her throat is dry from the lack of water

and her head starts to throb from dehydration.

Unable to feel her legs she focuses on her mind before her body fails.

The spirit is reserved for the very end of this race.

As her mind starts to picture the most beautiful images

and takes her to an island, a garden, the ocean, the river and at last an incredible waterfall is just ahead

She swallows the hard film resting along her cheeks

and opens her mouth to taste the refreshing coolness of the spring water flowing along the rocks.

Finally, her secret weapon is released and spirit bursts in with the energy as she completes the final mile.

Nirvana

I have escaped nostalgia
Missing nothing and no one
For in each moment I am here
And because I am here, I am love
Therefore I love.

I cannot miss that which is
Within my soul everlasting
Divinely connected through me
To eternity. Because I am love,
I can only love.

Sunday

Oh lazy Sunday

Tbe best day to rest,

To try and relax

With winter breeze.

Loving this chill

To invigorate,

Walking through it

Feeling alive.

Nothing like this on a Sunday.

Hidden Soul

Cold to the touch, yet flames were ever present
Deadly carmine graced her lips
Tight crushed garnet locks framed her powder painted face
Dark and distant eyes, captive, defiant, and  rimmed in red
As she looked away, always away.

Hour 23 – Prompt 23 – Drifted apart

Today technology has advanced with
social media ensuring various platforms
are available for interactions, for
reducing the distance that time and
boundaries of countries have created

We have Whatsapp, Facebook, Instagram,
Twitter and yet we are not connected
Two decades ago, we had none of these
We had innocence, we had friendship,
we had time and we had intent

Our friendship knew no boundaries
It was pure, filled with support,
trust, laughter, joy at small things,
encouragement when we faltered,
and being there for each other

When, how, and why did we drift apart?
Today, we have our own lives, I
know we have our own joys and sorrows
But, we don’t have each other
I no longer have the right to call

you by the nick name, like I did
when we were children. When we shared
our dreams, somehow we did not realize
that fulfilling those dreams would
be at the cost of our friendship

Many fond memories
Good times with friends
Studying hard
Homework assignments
TV show binges
Four and a half years together
Now, nearly that long apart
