Hour 20-Bansai

I feel like a kamikaze poet now

Just all in to the mission

Buckle up

Scream Bansai

And crash into that next poem

Why care if I survive?

Who cares if the poem will be memorable?

Just take out that wall

Take down that number

Watch that poem become the next

My pillow awaits

The alarm won’t be set

I am past the point of caffeination

I am running on dwindling fumes

No more  brilliant ideas now

Just slide to earth with one crippled engine

And smoke coming out of the belly

I am a kamikaze poet

BANSAI

19 HAPPINESS

HAPPINESS is

… sun rays streaming down my open windows

… sounds of children laughing, playing with their hearts’  content

… distant sound of honking of horns

… 3 scoops of Honey Dew ice cream

… ticking of a silent clock

… readiness of a key to open pronto an unsuspecting lock

… hearing a favorite tune playing

… a call from someone dear, a text maybe, or chat, unexpected email

… a welcoming bed with my huggables

… a breath of fresh air after a long trek

… a bowlful of kiwis and mangosteens

… a Cadbury, dairy milk and fruit and nut

… stack of good books to be read

… a good comfy Converse

… a welcome stillness with a whiff of cold air

… an unhindered trip to Haven

My list … endless

Keep it coming

POEM #20

it seemed time to end the charade
let willie go back to the chocolate factory
enough games have been played
someone must have forgotten to ring the bell
when visiting hours were over
because she stayed longer than he loved her.

Breakfast

Poem 19

Breakfast

The thought of breakfast makes my stomach tight, bringing smiles of delight

The smell of bacon sizzling in the metal pan, eggs too, nicely done with specks of green and gooey cheese

Toasted bread a must

Screw all the gluten haters!

Add a steaming Vanilla Latte

in my favourite brown cup no less, the one with the words coffee written like a maniac over and over again

cling, clang, bang, slam

breakfast here I come!

The Resistance is Green (Hour 20)

Decrepit buildings strangled with ivy,
leaking roofs where water creeps in, then dries,
and rots plaster and splinters wood to fray.
I welcome the ruin of civilization’s structures,
I secretly applaud the falling of the rain.

Sidewalks fractured by roots writhing beneath the concrete,
Shoots of grass penetrate the cracks of many driveways.
The vacant lot’s asphalt is crumbling, collecting water, and birthing weeds.
And I secretly cheer the patient revolution of the vegetation.

#14

walking into oblivion
evening is now near
mystery slowly unfolds
children are wandering
with raincoats ready
crossing into hell
percolating in the heat
steam forming fast
jars start busting
spraying frogs everywhere

CHEERS!

Hi all.

Gary here.

I have just completed my first Half Marathon!!!

A big THANK YOU to Caitlin & Jacob for coming up with the idea, for anyone who helps facilitate things; for those who sent in prompts & to Christy, Bountiful Balcony Poet & Lauren for your positive comments.

I need to eat & sleep as performed yesterday and am performing again in 5 hours, but I shall endeavour to get to yours asap.

I have written things I would never have written under these circumstances or possibly even written at all, so well done to anyone else who has managed 12 or 24 and most definitely, see you next year.

All the best.

poem 20

Just like this moment
All things
are impermanent,
grateful to
have experienced them
Partaking the nector
With everyone
” awake” with me

Nature Poem

Racing to the woods on a summer day

singing as she makes her way

through the stream of tadpoles she stoops to say Hey – cupping 2 or 3 in her hand, releasing them, then skipping away

the embankment forces a bit of a frown as she removes her shoes and sits on its ground

feet flicking the water across the pond, she takes up her shoes then leaps with bound

cool water rushing between her toes, eyeing the footbridge – off to it she goes.

Through the woods on a summer day to meet her friends for a day of play.

too bad all kids were not raised in this way
