Crack in the sidewalk,
doesn’t take much,
just a single root
with a sturdy touch.
Golden yellow
Against a bleak landscape
Green leaves against grey concrete.
24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
Crack in the sidewalk,
doesn’t take much,
just a single root
with a sturdy touch.
Golden yellow
Against a bleak landscape
Green leaves against grey concrete.
It was a happy green.
Rushing through nowhere.
Till it found me .
The creature of God in the creation of God.
The man made took me there .
Riding jolting beasting on the motor machine .
The speed was trying to catch up with the
Leaves of forests.
The tall shinning green webs were now
Eyeing my bike. Thrilled at the noise it made while the wind danced on my skin .
The symphony of the greens and engine screamed to ride.
Making me wild to experience the God kind.
Insects in the city
Living in the torrent of every civilization
Invasion of ancient species
Humanity evolution revolution
Ushering new solutions
Forwarding realization
Traversing new undertaking
Moving into resolution
A sense of balance
Where art thou living existence?
Wary in the ancient times biggest specimen
Adaptability resonating in ages
Moving of insects like roaches and the like
Pensiveness minuteness overflowing
Becoming sometimes a famine in the ages of humanity
Surely it is realizable capacities enriching
Living coexistence in every abode of humanity

Birds they sit upon the wall
Waiting for the feeders to fill their bill
Lizards sun themselves upon the steps
And bath under the sprinklers mist
Spider love the dark cool spaces
To weaver their webs in likely places
Javelins like to sneak
Upon my porch for flowers to eat
All creatures great and small
Will use our structures just like a mall
Summer rooftops filled with Crazy Eights
Pick 2
Pick 4
Pick 4 more
Pick-up 32 because Shorty got swoll
Smacking back sunflower seeds
Spitting David up and out to the pavement
While Wu-Tang resonates in the background so effortlessly
Arizona Iced Teas
Laffy Taffys
Nerds Candy
Want to go some play some pool, now or later?
Mastering the arts of being quick witted by hiking on each other
Sparking up another game of pick-up 32 because Shorty be bugging
Obtaining the skills of crafty fast thinking by playing chess, always staying ahead of the game
Fuck checkers, that’s for punk asses
Yo Cuz, take that deck away from Shorty
Heading downstairs to the joint
Sweeping the floors
power on the jukebox, Redman comes on…”Time 4 Sumaksion”
Sneaking cigarettes and piss water downed beer
While we hustle some old ass perverts on the pool table
Jersey kids doing what they do best
Trying to pass the time without getting caught up
Because trouble round the block
And Shorty ain’t here no more
36 years ago, was it that long?
We married the year before and lived the blue.
Apartment, that is.
The long shag carpet, countertops, and walls,
All royal blue.
We were happy there, on our own.
So I potted plants, hung them in the light source,
The one big window facing the courtyard.
I lined them along the window sill
Or hung them from hooks in the ceiling
Where long fronds of spider plants
Would vine the window view.
But you, being you, peeled a tangerine,
Sat down at the blue couch under the window,
And ate that piece of fruit while reading the paper.
Only too lazy to dispose of the seeds in the trash,
You reached your arm behind your head,
And threw the seeds in one of the plants.
Mystified at the new shoots one day,
I saw the rich green forming jagged leaves,
Among the pale green rounded ones.
I watched it til it outgrew the little pot.
So, I gave it its own, and then another,
And then you confessed what you’d done.
When we moved to the house, the standing pot
Rested under the second landing window,
A long vertical rectangle to the roof.
Clearly, it was a tangerine tree—sans fruit.
Eventually, we knew we’d stay, even if
We had to pay the mortgage with roommates.
We were 23 when we planted her in terra firma,
Against the block wall we shared with the Germans.
There she grew, filling the wall and beyond,
Keeping the drunken parties and naked jacuzziers
Stripped from view as she rounded out her branches.
She stood tall, encircled by cement along cinder block.
Barren for 15 years, then one day they appeared
The forest green balls grew tipped with delicate buds,
Tiny white petals framing deep green mini golf balls
That turned orange in the late fall, the first in October.
The harvest was small but so sweet and juicy, pit free.
And her roiling roots under the cement rebelled.
They rose up, buckled the cement, cracked open.
We’d been married for 27 years by then,
And though our marriage was rocky, the tree stood,
Ready to weigh in, bend the cinder block wall,
Uproot the cement yard square foot at a time.
We had no choice, back then, but to accede.
We put down the boxing gloves, took up the rototiller
And tore up the cement, repaired the cinder block buckle
So the tangerine tree could grow up and meet them,
The daughters we’d birth and nurture strong and tall,
For picking tangerines, and oranges, and tomatoes
Takes many arms and long, long, long patience.
I’m drifting, wheeling, tossed in space!
My tether has been cut.
What’d I do to deserve this?
Oh yeah..
I signed up!
It was her job to watch, keep record of the destruction, but not interfere without an explicit ordered to do so.
That was why she was asked out and not something else.
She’s at the Dozen feet off the ground, settled into a fork of a tree branch, blending in with the Shadows.
Her Keen eyes watched as only Paces away, the humans used with their shrieking, noxious machines to tear down tree after tree, chewing through the Trunks and sending debris clattering to the Earth.
They did this from sunrise to sunset, for days at a time.
She could still not understand the reason why.
The proud trunks were blocking no Road, harming no traveler, and not even interrupting of you for the humans.
Their settlements were still Beyond sight from the tree line.
And yet, they still tour plants from the roots and dragged their corpses from their home.
4 months, she had watched the slow progress of Destruction as the humans heartlessly continued onward cutting swathes through the forest.
Today, she was through simply watching everything unfold.
She didn’t care what the consequences would be.
Only that she no longer only watched the destruction.
She was going to cause some of her own.
When the sun disappeared behind the tree line, the humans left their vehicles, shutting off their loud cries and leaving them in their positions for the next day.
Instead of leaving her post and heading back to Terez,
She waited for the sun to fully set, and the Darkness to creep forward, before she climbed down and explored the camp.
There were three monstrous machines among the ruin the land.
Each had their openings covered with glass, probably for security and safety.
But by hurling a large enough Stone enough times, that glass shattered, gaining her entry.
Taking her time, she tore at the insides, smashing with The Rock and slicing with her short blade.
4 hours she worked, relishing the feeling that the destruction of the land would cease.
When she was finally done, she was covered with black vehicle blood,
But she walked home feeling every ounce of hero.
The laws of gravity don’t hold here –feet float
unless tethered – to a box, a table, a window frame.
I am stretched out, thinned by the space’s curve,
the loss of earth’s reliable time. Tick, tock,
there is nothing to be done, held
as we are in individual bodies, capsules
molded to our fragile skin, then sealed
as if ticking bombs, unpredictable,
easily detonated, then dispersed into darkness.
I read the remaining book, again and again,
seeking clues – anything that might explain
what we think we are supposed to be doing.
Come in, come in.
Roger. Over and out.
Is anyone listening outside myself?
Vowels and consonants –
unfamiliar sounds.
High above
As the world sleeps
She shines her light
Over the human race
In light, and in love
Clouds drape like silk
Over her full bussom
Darkness shrouds
Her lonely heart
Her sun, her love
World’s apart
Evolving through revolutions
In a sky full of stars
Can you, give her your heart
Will you still want her
As space imparts
