Often venting about how little he knew

The world

Even in his youth
He ran to the village
Where he invested
Yelling things not understood
Often venting about how little he knew
So he ran again endlessly to find
The world
Until it was his
You set me Free
through your thick black ink
pouring through your golden tip
We have seen the world together, you and I,
Through 26 letters
You have never let me down
or high or run dry
I plan to keep you locked
in between my fingers
like a lovers hand
on a rainy day
Black and white type on a page
Stale words by monotone historians
OFFICIAL HISTORY
Bring living words from breathing faces
Of movements
That were offset, slipped off the page
Putting a face on history
The stories that need to be told
To remind us that
nothing is ever given,
Nevered handed over,
Always demanded.
Always won.
Chapter 10: Resurrection
Twelve warriors kneel.
A seer tells all
“The lost daughter is returned to us!
The signs are clear –
The mark does not impede her power.
She resurrected her warrior marked for death.”
Rally in the center of a mountain.
Rogue fighters all around,
Winged warriors cheer.
I do not know.
No memory serves to tell
This truth.
Three women dead, or more,
And here I am – I made it.
What of my sister?
Am I my own salvation?
What now?
This is for our second set of parents
The ones with fifty shades of colors
To fill in most of our gray
This is for ones that seek to give more than FCAT skills in hopes to increase their pay day
This is for the ones that care more than the average
This is for our teachers
Fitting right in between
Parents and preachers
Plastering the walls of our minds with great knowledge
This is for the ones who become the love that some children will never get outside of school walls
This is for the ones that become the yes to our No
I can’t make it
This is for the ones that educate us with more than just a packet of words just to keep us busy
For the ones that give us the opportunity to do more than just fake it till we make it
This is for you
The one that became a lifeline to our deprived minds
For you
The one that turns idle minds into a breeding ground for greatness
And because your life exudes your dedication and determination
This one’s for you
This is my salute
to you
Gentle creature in this space
Gentle affections that you give
Sweet baby
No judgements
No concerns
Just sweet affections
And gentle green eyes
Living half a century
Allows me to glimpse
The beauty of my life
The test of growing up
The relief to obtain a degree
The pleasure to travel the world
The excitement of getting married
The miracle of being a happy mother
The delight of having my books published
The worries of my children entering College
The challenge to be happy with an empty nest
The honor to serve to my Church and the Community
The acceptance to realize what I have and don’t have
The opportunity to be me
The joy of one more day
The gratitude to be alive
Thank you Lord!

I live a quiet life.
I’m a mostly quiet wife in a necessarily quiet house –
I’d rather be alone than in a group,
I operate better that way.
but that’s the tricky part.
–
the voices in my head —
you’re not [________] enough
a record that never stops playing, although the voices vary in nature.
sometimes repetitive,
sometimes demeaning
sometimes deprecating
Always present.
–
In my quest for quietness,
In my search for solitude,
I found it.
But they found me.
Idolatry which tempts my every turn
What is the cure? What standard can I raise?
There is no hope for me if I can’t learn
To place in thee my hope and all my praise
Tis ye, who formed the world and made our home
Tis ye, whose praise alone we all must sing
Tis ye, who when humanity did roam
Took on our form and died to take death’s sting
And still we cannot praise thee as we ought
Our hearts, impure, will find another tune
Help us to claim the victory you bought
And sing our praise to thee who’s coming soon
In thee there is no shadow, turn, or bend
Our father, help us love thee ’till the end
