New year/new me 7am
Every year around this time
everyone starts saying the
same things without fail
I can hear them echoing
in my mind
Today is the day that I
will get into shape
today is the day that I will
Start eating healthier
I’ll stop that bad habit
I’ll save my money
I’ll do this
I’ll do that
Pretty ironic for someone
who seems to do great for
about three days and then
well what do we have here-?
I thought you were going to change
your habits
I got too busy-
Be honest-
The going got tough and instead of
sticking with-
You caved.
I can’t say much against you
I’m the same way.
I tried to stop eating
bad food and I tried to
exercise more
because frankly-
I can hear disease huffing and
puffing behind me and I have realized
that i am making it far far too easy for it
to catch me.
I must not want to change THAT bad
If every year it’s the same old same old
but I do know that when disease
eventually does catch me-
I’ll be surprised because my habits
aren’t that bad-
Are they?

Give me your arms ’round
my body, head on your chest
and let me stay here

“The Moment Of Aware…”
Neither the world nor its people
are as we WANT to believe.
Life has always had a price
…and people
– well, are not inherently moral prodigies
of self-less virtue
or otherwise – always fit to lead.
Whether that price was dictated
by an individual or group
OR self-appointed (regardless of sex)
Czar, Emperor, King, Pastor, Imam, Politician, et al
– it’s always another that pays the price.
Laws are NOT fair,
nor seldom just…
nor even applied equally.
And “THIS” is how this
(as all things) …ends.

(Hour 24) 21.30pm-22.30pm. TEXT PROMPT: poem about hope
the hope trap
1.
I hope I’m smart enough
That next year I remember
Nay, I decide not to sign up
For another poeting marathon
I’m getting waaay too old for this claptrap
2.
Except of course I won’t
I’ll be here again with bells
Revelling in the subliminal
Fugue state at the end of a day
Built on but a few scattered 12 minute naps
3.
Because the beauty of Marathon:
Poet-style is the hope that in
This heteroclitic haze of exhaustion
Gold is struck & I just step out
The way, let the shine glow : then — snap!
24 Endings
Waiting for winter
As autumn appears
Colors colliding
Stars sparkle superb
Greens hold gently
Before bursting below
Chilled cold mornings
Find crystals of frost
Willow is waiting
Patient with pride
Long lanky arms
Take twizzling turns
Refresh and relax
Enough is enough
There’s always another
Time for a test
Hour 24 – Questions for Tech Support
Questions for Tech Support
When The Cloud loses your files, where do they go?
Are the byts and bytes encapsulated in the raindrops?
If I set out some pans, could I get my documents back?
What happens to corrupted files? Is there a trial?
Do they go to prison?
If they want to put them in protective custody, I’ll take mine back.
When I log into my account with my email,
and the site asks for my email, and I give it back the email I logged in with,
and it tells me I can’t use that email because it is already in use, I want to know:
Does the program understand irony?
Is there any way to turn off ChatGPT? Like, for everybody? I think someone has created a monster.
It just hasn’t eaten any little children yet.
Why so many upgrades? I just got used to the way it was –
why can I not find the double space button now? Or change case? Or page borders?
Do you hate me? Or is this all an additional perk of the program?
