The Poetry Marathon

Hello, I’m Dr. Debborah.  I’m looking forward to this challenge.  I’m hoping to reset my writing. I’ve been in a slump lately.  Thanks for accepting me.

Hi! I write poems, kidlit, and essays, and I live in Chicago. I’ve signed up for the full marathon, so I’m probably being overconfident, but it sounds like such fun! I’m going to start a list of poem topics and poetic forms so that I’m ready for that Saturday morning. I’m looking forward to the challenge!

Inside Out.

It’s a new year for me to write poetry.  I have succumbed to my being divulging into the sea of prose and movie scripts till my rhymes start to fade. And my words slack.

Fortunately, the marathon is around the corner. I will be preparing for the day for it won’t be like the former. Be it morning evening and night because that bragging right is a slate I will be adding to the badges on my chest.

So, please welcome me, I’m ayGaius for short. And I’m ready to take that marathon by storm.

Can hardly believe it, but this is my 10th year!

All the other calendar pages are strewn on the floor, as the only one that matters is THE DAY.

Excited for another Poetry half Marathon….I’m just not up to 24 hours! Thank you, Caitlin and Jacob and whoever else is assisting you in putting on these wonderful events.

I’ve been productive during these events and wonder why I seem unable to create the same type of time restraints in my regular life….. Something to work on.

Hello!

This is my first time joining this marathon! I’m incredibly excited to see what’s in store!

I’ve been writing poems since I was 14, almost 3 poems daily, haha! I’m 18 now and wish to see my old friend again (my paper and ink). I want to feel at home through the words I write down!

I can’t wait to see the journey that waits ahead! And good luck to everyone who’s joining this marathon as well!

I am so happy to be participating in the 2023 Poetry Marathon!!! I have participated for 5 or 6 years and I am so thankful for all the friends that I have made (nationally and internationally) through this marathon!!! Plus, the half marathon (in my case) is a great way to flex those poetic muscles!!! Have an amazing marathon/half marathon everyone. To those I know, “Welcome Back!!!” and, to those I have yet to meet, “Welcome and I am glad to meet you!!!”

I am excited about the upcoming marathon. Last yearI did the half. Same this year.

I am  72 year old retired Pharma scientist. I write stories and poems in various internet  platforms.

Sign up is now open for the 2023 Poetry Marathon! You can sign up here.

The 2023 Poetry Marathon starts at 9 AM ET on Saturday September 2nd and will go till 9 AM ET on Sunday the 3rd of September.

Those who are interested in doing a half marathon start at 9 AM ET on September 2nd and go till 9 PM on that same day. Or they can start at 9 PM ET on the 2nd and continue to 9 AM on the 3rd, which works better for some time zones.

The goal of The Poetry Marathon is to write and post one poem an hour for 24 hours. Half marathoners post a poem per hour for a 12 hour period. You can catch up if you miss an hour, but you cannot get ahead.

This is an international event with participants from all around the globe. Generally 500 people attempt the marathon. You do not have to be a poet to participate. To find out how to convert your timezone go here.

There is a new prompt offered every hour. Some find this Helpful, some ignore it completely.

If you are interested in participating please sign up by the 28th of August. We will get reach out to applicants on the 11th, the 18th, and the 29th of August depending on when they apply. Most people who apply will be accepted. If you have not heard from us by the 30th of August. Please do not try and contact us through the FB page.
