24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
How much is too much?
How long can keep going?
Will I see the dawn?
The story went a little like this
and then they added that
This and That got married
and happened to give birth
to Then.
What a big boy he was.
This and That were proud parents
who were glowing from ear to ear.
Then decided to walk in his parent’s
footsteps and had a baby girl called When.
And This and That were proud
grandparents to When.
Miles to go before I sleep
starts when I rise
the list too long in size.
Things to do, places to be
stuff to see.
So much to do
and when I’m through
there’s still more to do.
The list grows on and on.
I see you so full of pain and despair
The pain you’re feeling I seem to share
That’s probably hard to understand
But I’ve been there too
I can hear your silent cries
Because I’ve had the same pain I see in your eyes
I wish I could take all that pain
And make it easier for you to get through
anger-ghost pepper spicy left me
gasping for words so instead I:
-organized the board games in alphabetical order
-stared into the sky
-pounded nerds like a frat boy
-created a new profile image
-swam 1.5 laps
-tried to clean pool deck
-tore my thumbnail far enough to bleed
-played sudoku on my phone while balancing on a pool float
-looked up a rabbit’s nose
-tried to remember all my passwords to set up my new phone
-got grumpy with my love
-started a new macramé project
-knocked my bong off the table
-swept glass off my patio with the push broom
-played more suduku
-listened to the broadway cast recording of Moulin Rouge until bed
