(TW/CW – disordered eating)
I’ve considered that I may not be as inconspicuous as I’d believed
trained myself to be a wallflower so that I could get away with
anything
when you’d leave, your absence offered me an alibi that would be left
unquestioned – the evidence disposed of, no witnesses to
anything
a habit backhandedly encouraged; suggested subtly like being handed a gun
and expected not to use it
at least – not until you use it against me when you ask : have you eaten
anything
If you know, you know
Soul smart is the new sexy
Dance a tango through the cosmos
Unfettered souls laid bare and free
Spirits intimately entwined
Although without you, I’m still whole
Together we can be so much more
Twin flame, mirror to my soul
Over seven billion people here on Earth
If I must wait until the end of time
How can I be sure that you exist
I will know you by the light you shine
The way you see the universe
Beautiful, magical, rare, and true
Waiting for the other half of me
Each rotation another day to find you

In Search of a Meaning
In search of meaning.
No one told me,
so I never knew.
Each morning
anger grew,
racing through,
Carotid arteries,
Heavy the heart.
Of mice men,
focuses me,
a meaning
meant for purpose.
Ending doubt
and brought boil.
None one told me,
I never knew.
Now I
Got to go.

Joy is soundproof
eyes that smile
halfway closed
lips lift cheeks
teeth peek
as your diaphragm heaves
in and out
stress is relieved
its easy to spread
like a virus
its contagious and rhythmically free
its the best medicine
to boost enjoyment
its daily on my things to do list
Once these were busy thoroughfares
On a green and sunny day
Water rushing up from the roots
Processed food being carted away.
This was an oxygen- processing unit, too,
Till the air itself turned into fog,
And the winter chill settled itself down
To write the leaf’s epilogue.
A delicate tracery of veins still remains
Which will crumble away soon, although
Artists may immortalize it, poets show
How much we humans owe..
To the humble leaf.
It is the dead of night,
i sit in awe of the noises
still being made.
No filters on the reverberations.
Exhaust echoing off of now cool black top
Tires spinning too fast as breaks pump.
The chirp of nightingales
playing holler back.
Even the dew seems to whistle
as it drips from top to bottom leaf.
The spark of my lighter
triggers tracer memories
bon fire dances, in the moonlit dark.
Before i let myself question
the bickering laughter of siblings
awake long after the sun has left,
i remind myself the neighbor is terminal.
While i am busying myself, trying to hush my memories
and drift to sleep…
they are trying to squeeze as many memories as will fit with in a second.
I whisper prayers from the shadows of my porch…
“If it be to your purpose Lord,
might you grant the unspoken whishes
hidden in the laughter coming from these wounded hearts”
Chortling birds, amused by my sleepy morns
chatter and clatter past my window
to the trees where roosts the hens and chicks
of buzzards, turkeys, eagles and hawks.
Turkeys are the funniest things
with Toms that strut and puff like kings,
Tail feathers spread and beards abloom
gobbling for a quick boom boom,
say “look at me! Big as a tree!
Fine tail feathers, my pedigree!”
Amused, I see the hens ignore their mating calls
to jump beyond for worms just past the wall.
Genetic code, that’s all it is
endlessly mutable and
becoming antibiotic resistant
tiny things, squirming with cilia
and seeking new homes to fester in
where they might rest for a while
and learn how to do something much worse.
