Prompt Seven: Sorrows

Sorrows

The leaves come tumbling down.

Leaves come tumbling down.

Come tumbling down.

Tumbling down.

Like my tears down my face.

My tears down my face.

Tears down my face.

Down my face.

My face.

There are sorrows unknown.

Are sorrows unknown.

Sorrows unknown.

Tumbling down . . .

My face . .

Sorrows unknown.

Intro

I’m  Chen an enthusiastic and keen listener with a passion for writing and most things outdoor. An accountant by profession here for the first time and enjoying the spontaneity of the marathon. Growing up I enjoyed reading anything I lay my hands on from our home library- anything from Shakespeare to the law of thermodynamics. Of course by then I’d no depth of most of the subjet matter (molecular volume of chlorine etc). My interest grew over the years and now I’m looking forward to publishing my debut novel. By the way, I  am Shona and about a third of my work is inspired by the wisdom of the aged around me in the cultural context. The other two thirds being distrubuted equally other sources.

Snapshot  of Joy

Of course

My daughter with her three daughters

My heart’s treasures.

A perfect snapshot of Joy

Everybody clean.

Everybody color coordinated.

Everybody pink and white.

Everybody smiling.

Almost laughing…in that moment.

Sometimes in the course

of daily mothering,

those moments are hard to remember.

Mothering is hard…

Captured moments are visual

gifts of  spiritual encouragement.

Cause mothering is hard,

A blessing but….hard.

Nacre

I found a world inside a shell,
I peeked in for a fleeting spell;
A tiny church for plankton bones
And grains of sand for standing stones,
Hairline hedges tufted round
Algae lush upon a mound
Where, almost too small to be seen,
Cattle grazed upon the green.
There beneath a pearly glow
Ragged rainbows dancing go, –
Little folks with spiny horns
In hues of sunset, leaf and corn,
Fancy hats atop their heads
And siren bells upon their legs.

I closed the shell. I hope that they
Still dance beneath their astral bay.

Hour 7 (2022)- Just Me

May be an image of 1 person

Blue streaks in my hair for B

A mask covering my face

I sent this picture to my son

During my workday at Pace.

The blue is for a precious boy

To whom Nanna is my name

The mask was to keep safe my kiddos

As I worked with them each day.

My hair is turning white

But a smile is behind my mask

If you want to know what I’m thinking

All you have to do is ask.

When it is about you

Hour – 5

when it comes to you

They warned me,
I am limitless
When it comes to you
They advised,
I am uncontrollable
When it about you
But all i know is that
conveying me a direction
inferring me a path
Directing me towards
The realm of warmth
You brought the stars
into my new moon nights
It’s now just the love that empowers
It is just the love that flows
throw my veins now
then how could I not
be so much into you
I admitted, that I m intractable
When it comes to you
I confessed, that I am eager,
To pick all the flowers of happiness
And put it as a tiara on the head
When it’s all about you.
Well, i told them
My love is unconditional
When it comes to you.

Hour 7

I want my way

down the hill

to say more

than the way up

I want to be

closer to someone

I want to

leave something behind

Time and Quiet

Give me time and quiet
to read a hardback book
out under an oak tree
not on some pavement.

Give me time and quiet
and a hardback book
under an oak tree.

Let me carry a satchel
with extra volumes (just in case)
to that quiet space

Nail a sign above me
that says “Do not disturb.”

I’ll return when I’m ready,
when I’ve had enough of time and quiet.

****An acrostic is a poem where the first letter of each line spells out a word or phrase when reading downward. In this example, I separated the first letter of each line and highlighted it in bold type to make it easier to read. Paisley Grace is my boyfriend Lonnie’s first grandbaby, born earlier this month. I tried to write from his perspective and capture his joy and excitement at becoming a grandfather and hope I was able to come close to what he is feeling!****
