Hour #6–I’ve Never Forgotten You

As trees lose their leaves,

And flowers lose their petals,

You left a piece of yourself with me

And I pressed that piece of you

Into my heart

So I could keep you there

The same way we take flowers and leaves

And press them between the pages of books

So we can have those reminders

Let your heart be afraid

Listen for us in the wind
and know that we are coming
Armed with nothing left to loose
we will not give quarter
The time for violence is here
let your heart be afraid at our coming
Tomorrow I will wash my hands of you
but today I will stain them red
Hear our cries for justice
as no longer a plea but a battle cry

Poem 6

Dear, you:

One of my brightest students that I had never doubt,
I wish you could message or see me sometime so we can talk about,
The things you really want to write and want to do,
Or the feelings when you’re down and when you’re blue.

You know you should never give up, right?
I heard you want to make a movie, then you should write,
The love stories you had told me with the class,
I really love that picture of you lying on the grass.

You know she’s lucky to meet a guy like you at a young age,
Back in my day all the boys are just full of rage,
Plus, you’re a really good student with a brain,
Funny how only I got the jokes in your campaign.

Anyway, I really wish I could hear something about you again,
Know that I’m here whenever you’re in pain,
Those problems you have right now, they will not last,
They are just another test that need to be passed.

But my support for you is still unsurpassed,
You’re still a young man so have a blast!

In Loving Memory

When I heard evil tidings
suddenly he vacated his life
I thought this word was a lie
How bitter it is to believe the truth.
Every day many beings
Life becomes a cipher.
One day every life remains as an empty vase
But, the mind is never hurt.
Bunch of memories
Tapped on my thoughts
The mind was cloudy and dark
No injuries on the mind even though
The pain is in the form of tears
When he found out he was dead
The tears seemed to fade.
But, even his memories
I was afraid those memoirs may melt
His death will haunt me for the rest of my life.
Until he knew I was dead
Now-
His memories
A few tears left me with sweet bruises.
Now I am remembering my bosom friends
It’s time to meet and recollect the past
I need to remember my childhood in their words.
it’s not an idle hour
If I waste a bit of second
someone knocks with bitter news
Today I want to see them.

Thanks Mom

Don’t think so much Susan
Turn the news off,
turn the entire TV off.
Stop distracting yourself with
things that don’t matter.
Go outside,
sit in the grass and
take pictures of your birds.
Get off the couch,
go, smell the scents of the world.
Have some fun,
it’s okay to have fun,
it’s okay to be alone,
it’s all okay in the end.

Don’t think so much Susan
The past won’t change,
the future is unknown.
What are you doing now,
what do you have now?
Want what you have before
wanting more.
What do you read, listen to,
watch?
What do you take in, focus on,
obsess over?
Relax, it’s all okay even when it’s not.

Don’t think so much Susan
Don’t worry about announcing
you’re living your best life.
Just live your life
whatever it may be,
whoever it may be with.
You don’t have to prove you’re
always on top of it all,
doing your best,
doing better than you are.
Proof is not what life is about.

Stop thinking so much Susan

The Burrow and the Bore

The Burrow and the Bore

The molting has begun, my body’s changing,
have to find a home in which to start to grow,
end game without praying, no need to explain things.

Buried deep in the colloquial saying,
used to reap what you did sow,
river molting has begun, my body is changing.

Rapid shedding, why is it raining?
Oh beware, the water table is low.
without praying, no need to explain things.

Alive at last, I don’t need any training.
Never you fear, I continue to grow,
daily molting has begun, my body’s changing.

The time for me to dig and get to the grounding.
Here in my world nothing ever happens slow,
even with praying, no need to explain things.

Broken, earthen, with a pounding
Oh tend to the curtains and bar the front door.
River molting has begun, my body’s changing,
every game begins and ends without ever praying.

Hour 6

How powerful is thy tongue,

Must I ask?

More powerful than our brain,

that controls each task?

Is it your heart, which blood flows,

that keeps you moving?

Quite possibly, it has to be,

least powerful than our lungs,

that keeps us breathing?

Can’t be more powerful than our limbs,

which provides us with mobility?

Thy physical wounds may heal,

Yet thy painstaken words may you forever feel.

Hour 5: Scholarly nail

Jetting into intense stupidity

Mr. Sunflower gulped melted cheese

– Cheddar

creating space for a rusty nail in his satchel

what a mystery

whose mastery is yet to be discovered

He nailed it!

HOUR SIX ~ The Shih Tzu Guru

THE SHIH TZU GURU

Dear Nadine,

Do you remember what I taught you?

We played together in the summer sun

I was your neighbor as much as my owners

You were happiest to see me when you came home

Do you remember what I taught you?

We ran, we barked, we rolled in the grass

I knew tricks and I liked treats

We had that in common (and I bet we still do)

Do you remember what I taught you?

We got soaked in the sprinklers to cool off

We weren’t afraid of bugs or dirt or being sweaty

We were too consumed by life and play.

Please don’t ever forget what I taught you,

That friends come in all shapes and sizes,

That Joy comes first, that Now is forever,

and that Unconditional Love can be as easy as Play

Your friend, Kimmy
