24 Poems ~ 24 Hours
Hello everyone! Just posting to ensure everything works. So looking forward to this years marathon!
Hello everyone! This is my fourth half marathon. I’ve written from California, Hawaii, and now Nebraska. I have been writing since I was a girl. I’ve had several poems published in literary magazines like The Society of Classical Poets and The Road Not Taken. I also write fantasy and sometimes blog over here. I’d love to connect with other like-minded poets, so please drop by and say hi.
Looking forward to writing on Saturday!

Um aah okay, so anyway.
These are the words I heard today.
The little bits of verbal glue we use
to hold the bricks of conversation
together.
Together – as we are meant to be.
Hi! Each year I try to do something or learn something new. The marathon is definitely new. I have been writing since junior high, mostly because I won an essay contest and thought writing was fun. One year I worked on writing a book of haiku. My kids and I spoke in fluent ‘haiku’ for a long time after that. I write kid stories and have tried short stories but I am a poet. I really hope you will enjoy what I write for you here. Aleta
Hi! I am Arundhathi from India. I am currently doing an undergraduate degree in English literature and I love reading and writing poetry. I had completed the half marathon a few year ago and now I’m excited to participate in my first full marathon!
Hi! I am Sara Sumner. I am a writer, editor and teacher, originally from Toronto now living in Israel.
This is my first half-marathon. As I am Sabbath observant, I am not able to write on Saturdays, so I will be doing the second half-marathon beginning at 4 am Sunday morning my time.
I have traditionally published two novels, one for adults and one for kids. And my poetry has occasionally been published in magazines. But, sadly, I don’t write as much poetry as I used to.
I have never written poetry on demand like this. Normally, poetry is a magical type of writing that flows from my pen in moments of high emotion. My heart sings of pain or power, of jilting or joy, of hope and fear and to take a cliché, I open a vein and bleed on paper.
But lately, my writing has become too mechanical. I feel like I am forcing myself to write commercially and it is stifling my voice. I hope that poetry can be the magic pill to heal my laryngitis.
I wish everyone much luck in the upcoming marathon and look forward to reading some of the beautiful poetry you come up with.
Thank you for organizing this amazing program. I like forward to participating!

Hello all 🙂
My name is Hilary Knutson. I am an American from Nashville, Tennessee currently working in Iraq. I’ve been writing poetry for a couple years, but haven’t published anything yet. Planning to put together a poetry book within the next year or so once I get settled back in America.
Whenever I am home, I fairly regularly participate in open mics and poetry slams.
