Taking On All My Colors

Hi, my fellow marathoners!
My name is Julie Christiansen, (pen name Robbie West) I know that pen names can be tricky things. The two things I have published under my pen name have been a poem in the 2021 Poetry Marathon Anthology and and a ten-word story in the Potato Soup Journal. I am very proud of this small achievement, although I sometimes wish that it belonged to my real name. The reason I give for sticking to the pen name is so that I can keep my creative writing separate from my academic writing. But since I am not famous and I publish only a little bit of both categories, a pen name is quite unnecessary. The real reason why I will stick to the name of Robbie West is that it is in fact my real name. I was adopted as a baby by Jack and Shirley Christiansen, and at the ripe old age of 58, I finally met my birth parents; Nancy Robson and Ed West. Both names are meant to acknowledge the people who have had an impact on my life – my parents and well, my parents.

This is just a test

This is just a test to make sure I’m in the right place. I’ve joined the writers of the Poetry Marathon 2022 and I am getting all pumped up and ready to go. Success to all my fellow poets. Creativity is but one word a way.

2022 Introduction: Erin Lorandos

Hi, fellow marathoners! My name is Erin and this will be my second year participating in The Poetry Marathon! I am committed to the half, but we’ll see – maybe I have some extra words in me this year… πŸ˜‰ I write mostly free verse and found poetry. I am also interested in fiction. I love challenges like this! I’m looking forward to this year’s prompts!

Rearing to go

  • I just had a double breakfast from the same lady. A heavy one to last me for a longtime.

Hey! don’t misquote me like I did after listening to her makeup voice note.

She said…, okay forget what she said.

‘Breakfast’ is a slang for break up in a romantic relationship.

I am twice heartwrenched as I wait for Saturday.

Hoping to πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈrun πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ 24hours non-stop and shed these shredded heart.

I live in Lagos, πŸ‡³πŸ‡¬ Nigeria. (more…)

Here We Go . . . .

Hi Poets –

Posting a note here to check that this site is working.

And . . . to get my head and heart ready for the Half Marathon on Saturday.

Here We Go . . . . !!

I can’t wait!

This is my very first time participating in
The Poetry Marathon. I’m pumped! I’m psyched!
As you can probably tell, I am dutifully training
by writing down whatever comes to my mind
and stretching my imagination.
I wonder if there are any special nutrition bars for poets… Twix, maybe?
I’ll need someone to hand me something to drink every few miles… coffee maybe?
Do we get one of those bibs with our numbers on them?
I sure could use a bib sometimes when I drink coffee and eat Twix…
I am a very messy poet. I can’t wait. So I didn’t.

Excited to participate again this year.

I am excited to announce that I’ve been selected as “Writing the Land” poet for Whatcom Land Trust parcel, Todd Creek. Here I am standing on the gravel bar at the South ForkΒ  Nooksack. I will write three poems during my tenure, May 2022-May 2023, to be posted on the website.
