Company
It’s the witching time of night,
or did I miss it in a flurry
of paper and purple ink?
This early morning hour is tricky
because
out of the corner of my eyes I
am constantly seeing
people who
are not there –
in the physical sense.
I feel them keeping me company
while I write and
the family sleeps.
And while I am sure
I’d be comforted
for the company,
my physical
and mental exhaustion
made me jumpy
while I write
and the family sleeps.
So, I’ll tip my hat,
to the inspiring spectres,
and thank them for
the camaraderie,
but it’s time to
finish up
what I write
so I can get some sleep.

it was definitely the witching time…lol
glad i was the only one who “wasn’t alone”
Blessings
Thank you. It is always so comforting to learn that there are others who also experience this…makes me feel less “crazy.” lol
🙂
LOL I had several visitors (or, writing companions when comfortable, sometimes pests when I was struggling). Two I wrote about. It’s nice to know that I am not the only one that doesn’t always write alone.
I liked this for many reasons.
Thank you. It is so interesting how, even though I have visitors on a regular basis, I am caught off guard every time. I guess I’ll never get over how taken aback and honoured I am that they choose me to visit.
