The moon shines
through your window
and you know
that today there’s no glory
for your team
You spare a thought
for solo athletes
who also haven’t had
the best of days
But it’s no time
to shed a lake of tears
there is still time
and other rounds
So panic not,
pick up a pen,
and write a poem,
send them luck
Wow the poem fits in really as we are having the RIO olympics !! I love the image you depicted at the end. A coach or a mentor who cares for his subordinates and doens’t surrender despite the defeat. I like that spirit really :)) Thank you for this heartfelt message !!
Thank you, that was the idea! I was so down after our basketball team has lost the game miserably, and our swimmers haven’t done well either, though they were so likely to get medals… So I just took the way I felt, took the prompt and wrote a poem to make myself feel better 🙂
I found this poem memorable and very enjoyable to read. I love your terms and imagery…”solo athlete”…there is time and other rounds…I took and understood us as the “solo athletes”…great comparison and ironic with the Olympics! Very nice. I enjoyed reading this poem very much!
