Hr. 2 Prompt 9
Picture Image: Andrew Liu
Distance surrounds her like water
Cold, unyielding-smothering
Where is she now
Longing for the warmth
The warmth she used to know
Winds blowing through and around her
Cold, unyielding-relentless
Where is she now
Longing for the understanding
The understanding she used to be given
Drowning, that’s where she is
Cold, unyielding-darkness
Longing for the place
The place that seems lost to her now
You have drawn a very strong image of desolation. I feel the sinking with each stanza – lower and lower. And the person utterly unable to move. Well done.
This poem is beautiful. It gives the feeling of being lost at sea in a world where there seems to be nothing solid or given to hold onto.
