The stars are screaming
Lamenting the loss of baby Jesus
To a cacophony of horrid music
Infused with consumerism
And the awakened awareness
That we neglect our most vulnerable
For the rest of the year;
(Except for maybe Thanksgiving)
Thanks, capitalism.
“The stars are screaming”.
What a profoundly terrifying image to start this poem with. It is a poem with all of the wrath of the Gods in mind, the loss of belief at its most basic.
I like the alliterative techniques used throughout they add to the acerbic tone of the poem overall.
Great poem.
