I wake up to beautiful blue sky
and a tsunami warning on my iPad.
I check news and weather reports,
but find nothing on earthquakes
or other natural disasters.
Hours later, a message appears
saying the warning was a test.
I take my daily walk
with no device
on my wrist or in my pocket.
No steps will be counted.
Does my walk do me any good?

I love the sweep and flow of this poem — from weather warnings on iPads to worrying about counting steps taken. Befitting of its title!
Thank you! I appreciate your words and your taking the time to comment on this and on my ghazal.
I enjoyed the contrast between the way the poem began and the way it ended. I like appreciate the final thought – have found myself wondering the same thing.
Yes, technology has changed our everyday lives in so many ways…
Thank you for your comments!
Oh such a wonderful addition to the technology series!
Sheila –– So many allusions (illusions?) evoked by this poem. Wonderful!
Thanks Jacob and Caitlin!
Advice: Don’t watch the news if you don’t make the bad things happen or can’t stop them. Congratulations on your walk! Jacob listed this as a favorite, so I expect you will get lost of looks and comments.
Yes! I’m doing the same. Go for a walk with no electronics. It make me feel FREE!
This really put things into perspective for me. Sometimes, we feel like if we can not show our progress, we arent making any. I really enjoyed this and appreciate you sharing it.
