The dragonflies still buzz today
Flying so carefree and peacefully
Their wings dance on the breeze
Without a care in the world
Flying so carefree and peacefully
Reminding me of days in my youth
Without a care in the world
It was a much simpler time
Reminding me of days in my youth
I recall chasing dragonflies and laughing
It was a much simpler time
But everything is alright
I recall chasing dragonflies and laughing
Their wings dance on the breeze
But everything is alright
The dragonflies still buzz today
Beautiful poem Jill….I love the association of dragonflies with dreams, lost innocence. I love the culmination of the last stanza…Nice imagery and tome of the poem.
Thank you, Ingrid. Of all the ones I have done today, I think this one is my favorite so far. I had actually written in this form once or twice before, so I was excited to see it pop up here. It is a fun form to write.
This is my third time doing this Jill. I am happy that you like it. Last year, the organizers did not do a chapbook and I was delighted to hear that they are doing an anthology…so keep working hard and writing some amazing poetry! Have an awesome night! After this, my final poem (#12), I am writing a few more comments but doing the bulk tomorrow.
Have a great night, Ingrid. This is my first year and I have a blast with this.
Really nice feel in this poem. Brings back memories of dragonflies landing on my nose.
Thank you, Danielle! I really enjoyed the challenge of this event and found myself inspired by the dragonflies outside my window on marathon day.
