Esperanza

Esperanza is a pretty girl

with big brown eyes, silky black hair,

low self esteem but a body to kill for.

She is after rich men,

but they will only use her.

She does not realize her potential,

her mama told her to hook a spouse

and then have a lot of kids and you’ll be free.

But she is already starting to hate being a woman.

That hour is upon me #12

that hour is upon me now
I stayed true to myself
almost finished with final words
what an amazing time it was

this cannot be taken from me
I showed my work and maybe some ability
I’ll just wait and see
but I can say I did the dang thing

what an exhilarating experience
to me none of them are meaningless
everything has meaning even the smallest thing
and that’s what it’s all about right

and so I take my leave for now
pen and paper in hand with pride
I bid thee all farewell and goodnight
that hour is upon me now

Preventing Disaster

Your innate ability to perceive tomorrow and clearly predict it

So that friends and family are guided and led aright

Often times this has led you to the summit

It is a gift.

Once, you have averted a plane crash that would have erased entire family

Another time, a two-storey building would have been razed to the ground

And lives and property would not have been found

It is a gift.

Even, if friends had poohpoohed your gift

The day you provided them with a lift

By predicting exact examinations questions cannot be forgotten

That, too, is a gift.

10:00 p.m Wait for me!

” I ‘ve secured you to myself. Your father shaked hand.

I am going to defend our blessing widespread land.

Wait for me, dear! Do feelings need more words?

Guard yourself and cut the heads of jackals with a sword,

sniffing around in the search of easy-caught victim…”

“To wait? How long? My unease can reach its extreme…”

“Look, count, how time passes quickly: 2 years…

May we imagine it just as 24 hours?”

Hour 24 — The Honor Gift

Beth A. Fleisher

Hour 24

Prompt 24:  Write a poem about a gift, real or imagined, fantastical or boring.

The Honor Gift

I read the note on the Manila envelope,

Smiling at what he wrote.

Baffled by the thickness of the package,

I carefully opened it — and sighed in awe.

Inside were stacks of his CD’s.

The two we made together,

Some from his early days,

Some new music I hadn’t heard yet.

And at the bottom of all of that,

The book.

I had wanted that book for years,

But other things had been priority.

Now, he had gifted it to me.

Honored me, with all of it.

Dusky Moon

Moon of the Dawn

As the skies turn light
The half moon says its last goodbye
But my moon’s here with me

Must Keep Writing!

Deprived of sleep,

poems I must create.

This damned vigil I will keep!

Deprived of sleep,

there’s no need to count sheep!

The pressure is just too great!

Deprived of sleep,

poems I must create!
