The Gifts

I always thought it best to say
The salient gifts you gave to me
One of these is the gift of love
that I enjoy it’s nice to have

Another one that came from you
Is trust I know I earned so true
You trust me with my plan and goal
I trust you with my heart and soul

And then here comes your gift of friendship
It strengthens our relationship
With you I laugh and never blue
I will spend my life with you

Also there are material things
I treasure them my heart just sings
One thing I know, know from the start
Is with you I will never part

You are the gift I’m proud to have
You are a gift from up above
If ever I will live again
I’ll find you hard until the end.

Shadenfreude

Shadenfreude

My life is a mess
as one can guess
so humor me if you would
listen to my tale
and try not to pale
Trust this is gonna be good

So I smashed my face
on a couch today
Have the scrapes and cuts to prove
that one shouldn’t chase
the cat in a small space
This poem is not going to improve

I broke my own heart
(really not that smart)
but I thought it would be different somehow
What did I expect?
I was bound to get wrecked
Nothing I can do anyhow…

Then the family went nuts
and I ended up the schmutz
(It’s what usually tends to transpire)
Who cares about deadlines
or your ridiculous confines?
I’d be better off writing in barbed-wire

Then dramatics ensued
as they usually do
and I was thrown under the bus
When two people get pissed
The obvious is missed
Your dramatics I don’t want to discuss

So there was a load of wasted time
and assholes blowing up my line
(You’d think I was smart enough to shut off my phone)
But sadly you’re mistaken
A couple’s rage was awakened
Seriously after all this, my mind is fucking blown.

I threw out my back,
how about that?
Have you even cracked a smile?
What do I have to do?
Seriously…no friggin clue.
Unless you’re ready to hear this pile.

I’m so broke it’s a joke
I’d much rather a stroke
Than deal with anything more
But as my luck would have it
buried beneath all the bullshit
It’s no wonder I’m so fucking poor.

So I’m up all night
doing all this write
so tired my body feels like a vibe
some would find that kinky
but I’d much rather eat a Twinkie
and get some much needed shut-eye

I don’t know about men,
oh where do I begin
can I just skip this and go onto the next?
Let’s face it, I suck
and I have such shit luck
I’m almost postive I’ve been hexed

Speaking of hexed
let’s talk about my ex
(maybe I shouldn’t, he’s kind of a dick)
to give him this much
attention and such
perhaps I should break out the measuring stick?

I haven’t slept in days
and I’m feelin’ my age
Oh the joys of morphing into a fossil
Just don’t go digging me up
Don’t you dare, you schmuck
Thank God I’m not yet menopausal

So now that I’m lagging
on this marathon, (my ass is dragging)
I figured I’d bitch up a storm
In hopes that maybe
I’ll get a little hee hee
Shadenfreude has become an art form.

There is far much more
waiting outside my front door
Oh the fun and the joy that will make
As I finally come unglued
At the next friggin dude
Why? Because I’m still awake.

I let out a breath
because I got nothing left
My grey matter is just about spent
Trepanning or horseshoe scar?
Or perhaps a trusty crowbar
To thwart off anymore argument.

Feel free to laugh
because trust me, I have
(I seriously gave myself a black eye)
It’s time for me to go
perhaps sneak out my window
before anything else can go awry.

We made it Marathoners

Congrats Fellow poets!

What an accomplishment!

You are all so talented and it has been an honour completing this milestone alongside you.

The love birds

She called i answered.                                       I called she answered.                                    Told her how much she means to me make me the happiest man and be mine.                 She said she needed time, told her time waits for no man, she told me love is patient i agreed and after a year and the half i asked and she agreed.                                                    We became close understanding each other and knowing our weaknesses and how to fix it.                                                                            We loved each other for a long time until a day came and i let one knee down to ask the question of eternity and her reply was yes       Days later we made our vows till death do us part, had a beautiful honeymoon, gave birth to three lovely kids who were blessings to us.                                                                      We achieved a lot together and then we grew old and we were being taken care of in the best way possible by our lovely children.   And then the day came when it was time to meet our creator and holding ourselves as we kissed we both gave a sigh and our spirit departed our bodies to love each other for all eternity                                                            And our story was told by our children and generations upon generations heard of the stories and called it the love birds

In the end

What do I have to say
At the end of this long journey
24 hours come and gone
Now, here, at the last
I am stumped

I try for something in form
Searching for a sentence
Not wanting to rhyme
But maybe just make something
Worthwhile

I am at a loss
Dear reader
I am tired and weary
Three months have taken their toll
Like few have done

The rest of this year promises to take a toll
And next year is already considering its options
Like a chef picking the perfect knife blade
How best to carve this beast
That lies in their kitchen

That’s not for now
Too much thinking will be dangerous
But we are writers and poets
Our minds are already dangerous
And have thought through a hundred scenarios by now

And so, dear reader
At the last I leave you with this
We have bled on paper for the last several hours
Unlocking the things we keep buried deep
I hope it was freeing

Curtain Call (HR 24)

God I DID IT!

I give You all the praises
My heart is overjoyed
Because You blessed me with such talent
To be able to use my words to uplift
To spark a reaction
To share my soul the best way I know how to express it
May my words inspire
May it breathe life into those who come across them
Now I can lay down my pen
The battle has been won
24 hours, 24 poems
Thank you to those who read them
Thank you all for your support
The finish line has been crossed
And I have no regrets at all
As the curtain comes down
I give my last bows
It’s been real everyone
It’s time to rest now
…Until next time
Be safe
Love y’all
Goodnight

The Gift of Love – Hour 24

They gave me their hearts
Piece by piece
They unwound
Unravelled their defences
Confided their secrets
Hopes and dreams
Provided their company
Even spent some money
They loved me unconditionally
My friends gave me their hearts
And so too did I give them mine.

Reshami Qurta:

What colours do I clothe you in?

Pales of rose, sparkle of chartreuse,
fade in the iridescence that your skin
deflects; the pining glow of your blues,
cerulean dreams to weave on satin.

To dress my inamoratas it takes
the furious blush of each rainbow,
the barren winter trees, the lakes,
the brown iris of a bashful doe.

And pinks, that of passion partakes..

prompt 24

Art is the gift
born into souls
wrapped in watercolor soaked bows
it’s beauty captures my mind
quickly enchanting me
to create
We are here for it
to share with the world

Colors move
inside
ideas transpire
rocking my calm
to sleep

cooking
scrambled designs
encouraging life
to flow
beyond the black and white
beyond the mundane
beyond what we know

Creating is travel
on easels
acrylic paints
colored pencils
pastels
shift energies
souls move on paper here
