Hour 10 – Talk, or Not?

Talk, or Not?

And wouldn’t it be quiet then?
if talking were not required
I think I should like to sit
ever silent
lose the constraints of society
my need to keep up my end of the conversation – gone
mouth shut, but not firmly
all ears, ready to hear the other person
my opinions, my thoughts, of little relevance
teeth to the wind
north-ward, into Freedom’s Land
and then
south again
Yes, now I see
if I remain silent
I give up my power
ever to be ruled by those with a voice
lose my self-sufficiency,
my self-governance
Mouth, open now!
Oh, let my words tumble out
if nonsensical, so be it
I will make myself heard
won’t I? I
have to decide
to which path will I travel?
Talk or not?

Moon Shadow

I’ve been followed

All along

Moon shadow,

Moon shadow

Protected in the

Silvery light

Moon shadow,

Moon shadow

Skipping along

Bards strumming

Their song

Moon shadow,

Moon shadow

Dancing through the night

Till the morning light

Moon shadow,

Moon shadow

The Way Will Still Come

If I ever lose my way,

the moonlight paths

will come again to show me.

Each night the way is made clear.

Even if I lose arms, legs, eyes, and teeth

I know that there is a path to tomorrow,

even if the path is sometimes shadowed by the worst,

the way will still come.

Moon shadow post script Prompt 10

We wake together after the night
Rested after searching this life
Sunlight, sunlight

Now that I’ve found my voice, I can sing on high
Now that I can feel my teeth, I use them soul to feed

Now that I can stretch my legs, I can run for miles and miles
Yes now that I have my feet under, I can carry you carry

Dancing circles wild and free spirited along by the sunlight, sunlight

Oh I am following the guide, looking up sunlight, sunlight

My eyes have dried they are open wide
Open to let all wash inside

And now that my hands have worked oh they can heal, heal
Those hands are not mine their yours, build what’s yours, lift what’s yours

Oh I am following the guide
Sunlight, sunlight
Dancing circles, wild and free
Sunlight sunlight

After Moonshadow 1/2 marathon poem #10

After Moonshadow
1/2 marathon poem #10

You lost your mind one night
Playing in shadows of moonlight
You lost your way back home
Singing of your woes in blue tones
Don’t be lost now in the dark
So come inside, no need to hark
Don’t be lost here anymore
So come inside and close the door.

Letting The Cat Out

I once had upon the mantelpiece

A sand picture housed between 2 glass panels

Prized as a child for its innovative charm

I owned a tape cassette and listened

to a song of moonbeams hidden

Adventure revealed in the depth of tone

But the picture was sharply rejected

by your newly acquired sophistication

And when you sang the words

The song rang hollow

Years later,

On hearing the song again

Halcyon ways urged me

To lay down new tracks

To overlay the fading memory

of life’s inequities but sand spilled

Leftover on that mantelpiece

Scratching the new tunes down

I will keep on coming back

to the place we were before.

Where the moon hid from light.

I will keep on trying

to establish new words

new layers to preserve

the innocence

of an original moment

When music was magical

and sand built castles.

Thin Lines

From sea to shining sea
and trinitite in between.
By geography and scripture:
A holy hungry fortress,
bombs bursting in the air,
a light unto the nations,
bearing gifts to all the Earth
like bananas and Japan.
First condemned to war,
then condemned to expand,
forever to conflate
people, property, and land.

Oh say does the banner
of the jail and the dope and the death
and the dumb and the hate and the want
and the pics and the porn and the cash
and the films and the food and the likes
and the lost and the scared and the law
yet wave in pursuit of the
hireling and slave,
the finally free and finally brave.

POINT-OF-AWARENESS PARADOX – Hour 10

POINT-OF-AWARENESS PARADOX

half the moon is always full

not just one night

not just one day

half the moon is always full

not only what we see and say

when we think the moon is dark

the dark side has become the light

and when we say the moon is full

we see the side that’s shining bright

but half swells full each moment, friend

half the moon is always full

or maybe if it’s more your style

half of light is in denial

so you’d choke and snarl and bark

that half the moon is always dark

I don’t measure my glass that way

but what you see is what you say

so half the moon is always dark

and half the moon is always full

not just one night

not just one day

what we can see

makes what we say

the truth itself will be, will be

whether we’d have it either way
