War is Inevitable – Hour 10

What is war?
That horrible event we fear so
God forbid I shall ever have to experience it
The destruction, pain and death
The injustice, anarchy and stress
What a cruel way to play out a political game

What is war?
A means to a transformative end
Freedom, justice, prosperity for all
Rewards worth dying for
The last promise of respite for the desperate
To ignite a paradigm shift for posterity
When any change is better than the status quo

Like any drama
War piques our interest
But only for a second or two
Most just last for too long
Too many seasons and plot twists
Reality reflected on overdrive
Many fight till they forget why they started fighting in the first place
Funding the greatest con in the history of the world
The belief that war is inevitable

6pm – ten – The Day’s End

The sun falls on another day.
I call to my friends,
in my mind, thinking of all I did today,
I ask myself, but, really, tell myself.
God was here.
He has given me much happiness
and so many friends.

Hour 10: In the Shadow of the Moon

In the Shadow of the Moon

A darkness surrounds me

Lack of sun

End of day.

I look up

All around me

There is little I can say.

I lift my eyes to the sky

See the moon

I smile.

I am grateful

So grateful

To be in this trial.

I turn in the starshine

No moon

In my sight

I look down

A moon shadow

At my feet, feels so right.

Hour 10: If I Ever Lose My Tongue, Blame the Clothespin

Gray stillness enveloped the sky

Everything calmed; halted

Even the wind stopped breathing

Playing in the backyard with clothespins

Clipped them to the end of my fingers

Wondered what they’d feel like on the tip of my tongue

So I did.

It hurt.

That was the first time I heard a tornado siren

Screeching

Wailing

Warning

Mom flung upon the screen door

Yelling at me to get inside!

Frozen

Standing

Crying

Paralyzed with indecision

With a clothespin pinching my tongue.

Common Sense

Many people mourn the loss of common sense

While I say that common sense never was real

To believe it exist just shows you are dense

If you trust common sense every dance is a waltz

I don’t want to criticize no need to get tense

Common needs common experience and faults

Limit your common to family and friends

Even they you will need a rose-colored lens

Moonshadow – Hour 10, Prompt 10

There’s my friend, the little hopper
A frog as black as midnight.
She follows me everywhere I go
That Moonshadow.

I hope she’ll hop the sadness away
Or maybe hop some joy
She keeps me from feeling lonesome
That Moonshadow.

But frogs don’t make much conversation
Their little croaks ain’t words
They ain’t able to bring me joy
Not Moonshadows

Moon Shadow
Hop away my pain
Moon Shadow
Prove there’s love to gain
MoonShadow~
Give me some feeling

There’s my friend, the little froggy
Black as midnight is to day~
She follows my every dogged step

That Moonshadow’s here to stay~

Moss:

Moss gathers the stonewall of a cottage in its arms;

The strange heat in the lung of a firefly

sets the treeline aflame with actinic light,

There is the lethargy of a lotus-eaters vision that will zoom on

the mask the night covers the scene with.

A bottle rolls and clatters on the wooden floor as the bowl of porridge, untouched, untasted

grows colder…

I’ve Lost Count of the Hours

What hours are we in?

I don’t know

I’ve just finished a street party

And perhaps the drink was just a little too plenty

I’m just kidding- I don’t partake in the drink

So what other excuse could I have…

Maybe it’s time I go.

Again, I don’t really know.

God I’m glad that song is over

God, I’m glad that song is over

With its upbeat drum beat and plucky guitar

It’s one love, one world kind of strut.

Imagine all the people

trying to change the world

with just a song

You’re kinda cute but don’t bother trying

to fix everything that we’ve done wrong.
