I Once Killed A Monster

I Once Killed a Monster

I once killed a monster

With one straw and a half

It had more magic in it

Than you saw in Harry Porter.

The monster laughed aloud

And shook the very mountain

He took it inside his mouth

And lay on the ground.

I went near his giant nose

And blew it with my straw

He sneezed his life out

And pulled out a rose.

Inchworm

I want to be an inchworm, to
crinkle my whole body together
just to move, to accordion myself
just to move. Inch inch.

I want to be that green thread
thinner than a grain of rice
and not much longer. I want the
balance to scrunch just to move,
to arch just to move. Inch inch.

I want to eat my body weight
in leafy cuticle, to have a
never-ending supply of food, if
only I can get to it, if only I
can fold myself in two just to move,
to touch my ends together just to
move. Inch inch.

I want the rain to wash me away
drop by drop, to carry me away
from all I know so I have to
double over just to move, to loop
my whole body just to move. Inch inch.

Poem no. 20 This

This turning back,
unfolding,
into yourself; this
opening the papyrus
uncurling the scroll
marked thick and clear
with the hieroglyphs of you.
This slow easing open
like a blossom
under a cool spring moon;
slipping gently, like liquid birdsong,
along branches thick and rich with green.
This understanding; this
coming to know.

My squeaky clean house

Wins all the awards

Love every neighbor

I gently slam doors

(i never tell lies

and neither do you)

My twenty five cats

All tie their own shoes

Finish the dishes

Then beg me to snooze

DOUBLE DARE (hour 21, PM 2017)

Sing me a song of eternal sunshine

pocket full of broken stones

tall as the sky, deep as the ocean

Sing me a song of deepest night

pocketful of dead stars

vast as the last galaxy, deep as a wormhole

Sing me a song of a billion euros

bottomless pocket full of used bills

tall as the world bank, deep as a zero

Hour 14

I’ve been peculating

the parts of you     every evening

and storing them   in my soul’s jar

everytime I peek into the jar

The parts of you—

diffuse into the gloomy air

Somebody’s Baby Boy

So many missing people in Virginia,

you can tell a certain serial killer’s

out of jail, although last I heard

he had moved on to Utah, then

to Colorado. Very upset citizenry

in Provo and Durango, but not to worry.

He was on his way to Yellowstone,

and no one’s seen him since.

Poem 21

Come see me,Am
Dancing between sleep and waking
Laughing and crying
Joy and misery
Pain and enthusiasm
Light and darkness
Sometimes up
Sometimes down
Dancing between
waltz and tango
Better be wise
And walk straight
In middle

HOUR8

Worry

Wondering about tomorrow?

What about today?

Let’s worry more for

the present, not the future!

The present can be or become

a blessed present, it depends on

us what we do or don’t.

How to build a better future?
