. A dialogue with a poet

I am obsessed with writing notes on a table napkin,

But never a poem was written except, a sweet note of inspiration.

it wasn’t even properly compose in a correct grammar or even rephrase

Inside the dark pocket, waiting to unveil the beauty of prose.

I battled procrastination, the reason why I kept a journal.

A  reminder, that I need to keep on writing.

Seating quietly  for hours on my desk and suddenly I switched  to reading a book instead.

I was told to set a goal but, my brain doesn’t cooperate.

Had I not been procrastinating, I should have done, what I have done.

Perhaps, a published book of poetry or a short novel,

But, the last paragraph, caught me hanging.

i can’t even weave words to end the last paragraph of my plot

Can’t even invent a story to put a tragic ending to my novel.

Thinking my imbalance hormones affect my sincere intention to write

And set aside my goal instead.

When my mood change,

The journal I bought, contained doodles of flowers and hearts.

Maybe, the poems and the story that I need to write,

Must be kept inside my heart because,

The words that I have are seared with scars and

Only blotches of ink from tears will be visible,

To the naked eyes of the reader

Because, I was badly hurt.

Hour 10 Prompt – Colour

Holding the first light,
In their white petals,
These summer flowers,
Quite often talk to me.
The sudden pull of emotions,
Or hammock of thoughts within me,
Silently the dewdrops unwrap,
And as I drench in the fragnance,
Quickly they hide behind the mist again!

Superduper plan

If a super villain wanted
to destroy America
he would reverse the law
of gravity,

rendering most
cosmetic surgery obsolete
putting brassiere makers
out of business
turning facial creams into
scented lubes for bike chains

to reverse the law
of gravity
would negate having to
tell people to “Suck it up!”
make it harder for someone
to let you down
put a whole new spin on
the gravity of any situation

If a super villain wanted
to destroy America
he would reverse the law
of gravity,
crippling our economy
without us, ironically,
having to pick up the pieces

Poem 12

A grand fish fry
a mouth watering delight
savor the delicious taste
of an escovieched Fish
Taste of onion and pepper
a tantalizing treat
a mouth watering delight

Oh where o where is this treat
I can almost taste it sweet
Delightful, mouth watering
oh where oh where
is this grand fish fry

Words that form, flowing

Singing, stinging

Stringing you along

Listening, whilst creating

Another poetess song

Writing with others, all over

From glorious prompts

Testing our courage

Stretching my smarts

As day turns to night

Halfway through this

Enjoyable plight

Some stop now, sleeping

Come what may, I say.

Bring the rest on

Witty, cunning, addicted to these things

Inspirational pictures

Plus music galore

Rocking, thirteen hours more

Steadily started

Building, they continually grow

Breaking into, waiting

From the other side

As ink slips from her hands

Pen clutched between fingers

Nouns, verbally pressed

Objectively placed

Inside two blue lines

Leaving white behind

Commute

Scratch, rumble, screech, SPARKS!

Many feet move off and on

In day and the dark.

Where are they going?

Where have they been all day long?

No words are exchanged.

I am silent too,

Contemplating my commute.

Scratch, rumble, screech, SPARKS!

Natural Selection (12)

I looked at the crowd, so like myself.

Brown eyes, brown skin, brown hair.

At the highest clearance level, I had access to readings – stories, really, fables – about a time when humans had blue eyes. Or green. Hair called blonde. Or red. And white skin.

Fortunately, human-engineered genetics shifting ended diversity. The world was a better place

when everyone looked the same. No one was uncomfortable or nervous around another. There was no fear of knowledge – all genius was implanted through microchips. Everyone worked toward the same good for all. Competition ended. No one had a beauty advantage.

No one got ahead.

Random Prompt #13

The air felt heavy
burdened with betrayal
loss, heartbreak and dismay.
It reeked of abandonment
This is where dreams came to die.

As disappointment set the tone
for the atmosphere
strong stench of opium,
marijuana,
cocaine
nicotine
and infected needles….
choking the air in my lungs
suffocated, I struggle.

The sound of silent cries
echoed in my ear drums
deafeningly desperate.
reality was like a ticking time bomb
they’d do anything to escape
the clutches of pain…
sometimes even at the risk of putting life in danger…
for that one hit.
for that one line of coke
for that one dose of heroin.

Hour 9 Prompt – Spider

What I see is an illusion
Everything wrapped in spider’s hammock
Behind the rusted lock
Still fresh are my memories
My doll dressed in years of dust
And the grandfather’s rocking chair
Sip of the petrichor in my tea
And this dew upon the barren garden
Everything has changed in real
But it’s still the same in my illusion.

Law of Attraction

8/5/17 6:17pm
Law of Attraction

You jumped from your roof because you’d decided
that the law of attraction cancelled out the law of gravity.
Some kind of mental breakdown triggered by a spiritual awakening
when you couldn’t handle the responsibility.

My dear dizzy head, my collapsed-lung complacent patient,
fighting with yourself.
You hit the ground hard and said you’d hurt your foot,
I imagined a world in which you flew.
You’d have drifted down slowly and maybe found some validation
some reassurance that you’re here for a purpose.
My purposeful proposition that maybe there’s a method
to our manias and madness,
how they coincide so intricately.

I bruised my foot that same day, felt human in the same way,
but you’ll never understand or believe
that there is more to things than logic or science.
Your defiance of something greater than us is a paradox,
you, named after a man in the bible.
Diving into books and documentaries trying to pull apart the
secrets of the universe, to make sense of it,
to make it something palpable, fathomable, controllable,
so that you didn’t feel so overwhelmed,
and disconnected.

It’s apparent that I evoke some insanity within you,
that turns itself over and over until it’s sanded down
stripped
polished
all detail erased and forgotten.
The law of attraction isn’t what shoved you toward me,
the universe reached a hand down and soothed the
blistering wound in your chest
gave you a moment to rest and consider
that there’s something bigger
meant for you.

You’ll keep running from things you can’t control
pointing fingers at anyone that threatens your detachment.
My foot still hurts from that day
and I take it as a lesson.
Loving someone scares you more than dying;
More than the law of gravity becoming obsolete.
I hope you think of this when your bones ache.
