Abandon all fear
he who enters here
Abandon all cause
for distress and unease
Abandon your deadlines,
alarms and reminders
Give in to the flow
of time that’s unmeasured
Make plans that will never
become out of date
Abandon your purpose
and let your mind wander
when boredom seeps in
on the rainiest day

Inspired by one of the poetry prompt pictures, as well as a thought I’ve had written down in my notebook from a source I no longer remember: Millions long for immortality who don’t know what to do with themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.

J (2017)

I wish I could tell you
What’s been on my mind.
Tell you all of the thoughts, the feelings
That have been plaguing me.
I want to tell you how much
Just knowing you means to me.
I want you to know how much I care,
To know that I love you.

I wish you loved me back
But, strangely enough, I am content.
Just having you near
Brings me more joy than I could ever hope.
I want you to stay
Not as a lover, per say,
But at least as a friend.
To think of losing you
Makes my heart hurt.

Someday, you will have to leave.
I get it, I can’t change it,
And I wouldn’t want to keep you
From your happiness.
But please, for now
Just stay,
Don’t leave me just yet.
Let me enjoy your company
A little while longer.

Betrayal?

5:00 PM Betrayal?

It depends they say from which side of the fence you are viewing

Either it’s betrayal or something that for years has been brewing

Did they deserve it or was it a wrong

Or did it give the getter the energy to go along

Their own way

Perhaps this is why one does betray

may it be time to go your own way?

Hour 11: A Poem from the Inside Out

A Poem from the Inside Out

When looking in
Are we not looking out?
How to tell the two apart?
The outside, oh, so fragile
The inside naught but heart

A poem is the thing inside
That tears the outside down
Outside is where the poem exists
Parading into town

(from a prompt from earlier today)

Colors of My Soul

I was red.

I’ve been red for a long time now.
Red since the day before I was born.

Every now and then, I’d be purple
Drifting in and out of the blues.
Hues, like waves washing my feet.

And now, I’m blue.
“What’s come over you?”
I ask myself, and laugh sometimes.

I’m blue, and at a new end
Of the spectrum, smiling
At you.

I like being blue.

#7 Timed Poem

Sipping wine
Watching time
Ticking… panicking
Toe the line
Feeling fine

Stanza two
What to do
Words are stuck
What the fuck
Drink more wine
Running out of time
Ticking clock
I need a Glock
Shoot the gun
I’m having fun

Writing under duress
I’m making a mess
Not my usual style
But happy not doing dark for a while
Local band strikes up a song
And in my head I sing along
In a noisy festive pub
Ordering delicious seafood grub
I keep an eye on time
And write this timed poem of mine…

Listening

Listen to call of music playing

Echoing the harmony of life saying

Marvelous times enriching

Life in its citadels singing

Enriching life anew

Something to renew

Wonderment of human species

Calling to the specifics

Wondering and pondering

Surrendering to its notes

Communing in  every joiner

Deepening touches of lives reminders

My Journey #10 bit late

Began this journey full of angst
A sort of frazzled interpretation at first
Maybe a niche has appeared
It is not the nightmare once thought
But an echo of past delight

Getting lost along the way
It was perhaps tantamount for growth
Constantly falling and evolving
Inspiration for a new beginning
To go forward and beyond impossibility

Surpassing fears that shouldn’t matter
While the ebb and flow commiserate
Swelling with emotions unknown
Waiting for words to meet paper
Here they come what a blissful release

Friendship

Friendship often ends

In love

Love in friendship

Never ends when two hearts

Becomes one for

Eternity friendship love
