Change Indeed

On one hand nine years feels like yesterday on the other it seems as if a lifetime has passed

Up with hope!! Bring on the change.              I had no idea changing

involved so much pain.  I felt personally responsible for the demise of my world I felt lost I felt like a father less girl    my insides drowning in emptiness I could never fathom.          When the day began with more promise than ever imagined. Can you see my disdain for the world, because Im no longer his little girl…just his legacy

these walls

I slowly pushed open the door.
The sound of years having passed
cut through the wood.
I crossed the floor slowly
as to not move the room.
Claiming the old wooden chair in the corner,
listening to the stories
only these walls could tell-
Holding the memories time had not taken.
Nothing looks the same.
Was it this place, or I, that has changed

Hour 5 Prompt – Backyard

In the backyard

Under the mango tree

Still are written the words

That you never said to me.

A branch leaning over another

Tells the story of our childhood

When we fought to grab the swing

And how everytime you used to win.

In the backyard

Under the mango tree

I still wait for you

To play with me!

Party at Arthur’s

Pickup trucks, 80s music, and teenage delinquency

“Arthur’s” was our hangout

“Party at Arthur’s!”

Traveling down dirt roads,

windows down

somewhere among a maze of county roads

and cornfields,

we arrived

at “Arthur’s”.

Talking with friends,

meeting new ones,

smoking Virginia Slims Light Menthol

He hosted many parties

for us country kids

with keg beer,

pick up trucks,

and boomboxes.

Banana clips, friendship bracelets,

Aqua Net overload,

marathon makeout sessions . . .

Arthur witnessed it all.

My heart sank when,

years after I moved away,

I read that “Arthur” had to be torn down.

I sure miss that tree.

Tyson

His name was, ‘Tyson.’
He was always loyal to his family!
He was a German Shepherd.
He was crossed with a Rottweiler.
Two vicious sounding dogs!
He was the most loving and caring!

A Cheer For Me

God bless me & keep me& blanket my life

that my journey is infused with less wrong & more right

Give me the wisdom to be honest enough to see

that sometimes my own thinking is an enemy to me

Thank you for giving me a kind heart to always cheer for someone else

and please relieve me of negative doubts that stops me from cheering for myself

Continue to strengthen  & guide me through all situations &

help me live without self imposed limitations

I believe with all my heart that I have a friend in thee

Help me to reach deeper to find the friend in me

# 5 A place of significance

Clutching my fantastical book
I push past the hanging grasping coats
Into the back of the wardrobe
I am eight

It is an old, well-travelled wardrobe
In the corner of a nondescript room
In a seaside holiday cottage
I am eight

I inhale the musty redolent smells
Of half-forgotten half-human coats
Which envelope all that I am
I am eight

I close my eyes and open my mind
I open the book and close my ears
I climb into the pages
I am eight

I am here, I feel the snow
In my happy place, where I belong
In Narnia
I am eight

Hour 5

I can’t believe it is already hour 5!! I need to get some food made during my free time but I still going strong with the writing.

River Views

Dirt road winding through trees

Sounds of rushing water flowing to me

I sit by the bank and think

The river twisting out of sight

Thoughts about everything

Life love and growing up

The water making the perfect music

Lulling my thoughts to a deep calm

I go back down the road

Walking up the hill to get home

Thoughts quiet for another day
