My Introduction

Hello friends.

Long time author, short time poet. As someone who strives for excellence in all things writing, this will be my first poetry marathon.

Normally, I write novels, particularly fantasy with a twist of romance. I’ve also written quite a bit of fanfiction, one of which rose to be in the top ten of its category out of over 5,000 submissions. I have a deep fondness for foxes, as the traits I hold highest are cunning, wisdom, and sensuality.

I also run a side blog where I present creative writing lessons and critiques aptly named Kiba Elunal’s Writing Lessons and Critiques. There you can find my Foxy Critique series where I analyze and breakdown novels submitted to me by fellow writers.

I’m eager to get started, and I wish you all the best of luck in life and literature.

1st timer

Hi all, this is my first poetry marathon or any other kind of marathon  (although I used to eat them back in the 80s). I’m nervous I may have bitten off more than I can chew but really excited by this challenge.

I have written since I was a kid of about 7/8, but only recently had a resurgence having spent a lot of time parenting. I’m still parenting but just finding some time for myself too.

Hi Everyone!

I have a challenge with the marathon this year. I am going to be away from home! Doing the half marathon for the second half. The first 2-3 hours will be a challenge as i am traveling. Will hopefully be able to post. Really hoping I can do it. Looking forward to the nightime promts as I have always done the daytime half. Also looking forward to my favourite part…reading all the great poetry that comes out of this marathon!

Testing, testing

Trying to remember what I might need to know about WordPress. It has been a year.

Let’s see if this works…

…and Go.

New Intro

Hey everyone, my alias is Angel of Light. I’m on various websites like Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, Fanfiction, Deviantart, and Fictionpress, but I only have one series that defines me as a writer. It is called Darryl & Diana. If you are into romance novels, it is a series worthy of a read. Doing the 12 hour marathon, I am here to better myself as a writer, so I can do whatever it takes to make my Darryl & Diana series the best series it can be.

Hi Everyone!   This is my first time doing the poetry marathon and so I thought – ‘go big or go home’ and signed up for the 24 hour marathon.  I’m so excited to write 24 poems in 24 hours!

You Have My Respect

It’s an honor and a privilege to be counted among this year’s half-marathoners. I’m a first-timer here.

I may one day feel equipped to take on the 24-hour challenge. In the meantime, isn’t this exciting!

My secret dream is to be a published novelist. I don’t have grand literary aspirations; I don’t want to write the great American novel. I just want to finish something people will buy. Like a category romance or a historical. Then continue to do so repeatedly until further notice.

Despite said cherished dream, for some reason poetry comes to me more easily than novel writing. Not that it is ever really easy; it is always hard work to produce a finished poem. But at the inspiration stage, it just seems to flow, whereas, when I sit down to work on one of the many novels I carry in my head, I get so caught up in plotting, and naming characters, and getting facts right, and other necessities, that I almost never achieve the effortless flow of original wording that I experience when a new poem has me by the muse.

This is why I was so quick to sign up for The Poetry Marathon. I have done NaNoWriMo before, and this seems much more accessible. I tend to overthink my decisions, but one day about a week ago, I read about the Marathon for the first time in my life. Less than ten minutes later, the decision was made and my application sent off. One of the easiest decisions of my life. I don’t know why it was, but it felt fabulous.

By rights, any sane person should seriously hesitate. It takes guts to sign up for this, folks. You have my respect. I wish every poet here a deeply satisfying, best-case startling effort!

Hello all!

I am new to the marathon, but have been writing since i was a child. I have entered my work into other contests before, but I have never attempted anything like this. I cannot wait!

Hello to all!

I just got my account up and running and hopefully, I completed my profile correctly! I will be entering the half-marathon, as this is my first time. I will be writing from Calgary, Alberta Canada where I am visiting my sister. I hope to practice over the next week to be ready for the big day! I entered a contest a few years ago called, The Coffee Shop Author Contest, and I created a book of poetry with coffee as the main thread through the poems. Hopefully, that has prepared me for this endeavour! Good luck to all!
