Wild Echo

Come with me as I escape to peaceful scene,

Quiet lake, no ripples found, graciously serene.

Snowy caps on mountain walls, chipmunks perch on rocky ledges.

Hear  the turkey’s morning call, watch for deer feeding near the grassy edges.

No rushing, no hurry, no time clock to punch.

No indigestion, for there is no racing through your lunch.

Leave your cell at home, no need to dial,

Come and sit a spell and listen to the echo of the wild.

(ii) wistful thoughts

fingers unwind, the very same that
caressed when intertwined, mine in yours.

and as we part, the halting caresses relive
the painful moments of canorous, crooning,
warbled words.

wistful thoughts…

the very words, your dainty fingers, sometime
before this sepulchral silence,
on my gnarled and mottled skin, wrote.

Hour 11: Stay Close

Stay close to me

I cannot, he said

I must be free

Stay close to me

See the sights I see

We’ll both be dead

One day I dread

So live today instead

Stay close to me

Stay close to me

I cannot, he said

The Kiss

Pardon me miss

But have you seen a kiss

It was here a minute ago

I ask if you could

Give it back if you would

As it was just a loan

If you find the kiss

It belongs on my lips

That’s where all good kisses go

I won’t hold it against you

But my lips they want to

As if you didn’t know

Idols

we give our idols the platform they stand on and hope they don’t fall.

A Complete Bust

My lack of thoughts

Make this marathon

A complete bust.

Nothing seems to flow

The that I want it to.

I feel my poetry is forced

Next time, I will opt for the

Twelve hour marathon.

Fighting against sleep

And constant pain

Headaches come too often.

Still, I am going to try and

Complete this Poetry Marathon.

Difference

I see the moving cities..
Flying vehicles
Running people
They seem to have a destination
I don’t.

I see the busy city roads
And streets , And lanes
Even at midnight and after
They seem to be going
I don’t.

I don’t run
I wander, at leisure
For I have no destination
Just a journey
I do.

Two brown eyes and two floppy ears

A discarded eyeball next to the bookcase

A fluffy arm in a sunbeam

A half chewed stuffed mascot under the couch

A tail dancing at the door’s first creak

A pair of brown butter eyes keen gaze on the street

An eager dance partner to silent music

A liquid body luxuriating on the bed

A warm presence on the couch

(and shadow for every other room)

Dishwasher, guardian, explorer

All contained in one creature

Given only a tail, four legs and a nose by nature

The creature as we know it: the first good choice of humanity

You think I don’t hear you

But I’ve heard it all

Every whisper

Every snicker

Every snide remark

Every helpful tip you’ve ever had to share

I used to keep myself at night

Soaking my pillowcase

I abused myself

I hated myself

I hurt myself even more than you

It took some time

But soon I did learn

How wonderful my body is

It is strong

It is beautiful

It is remarkable

My face

My stomach

My thighs

My boobs

My arms

My butt

There’s more to love

And I love it

It doesn’t matter to me if you do too
