Blue Eyes

Pulsing in the doll’s house

With the dial cranked to two

Their fingers touches on the bed

Through the mirror to see doll

How beautiful she is to notice

A dream come true wonders of love

Yes, sleepy beauty

You must see by grace

She holds the crown

And the sky is the limit of its gifts falling down to earth mindfulness

A shot of heaven finest

You drank a shot that falls from the sky

Its spiraled a galaxy in your eyes

In the other a open hole

A double of starlets shines

There you should have been there

The dove was so ever invited

There last moment with a note

Sealed with a passionate vow

The cross they stand near pleased

A whole life in the holy water

Like Jesus the son of God

Thirsty for your salvation

Leader of men

Heavy is the head that gets berated from all sides.

It seems as if no matter what he does, there’s always

someone left unsatisfied. But it of no matter to him because

he never stops trying to do what’s right

regardless of the circumstances. You may not appreciate him

but someday when your kids are safer than they were yesterday

or when the criminal gets the punishment he deserves, you’ll realize

exactly what you had as gratitude manifests in full force.

Hour 24

the inspired scrapings of whirlwinds
After 24 hours of writing
My mind is full of cheese
I struggle to craft lines

After 24 hours of writing
Comes dreaded editing
I struggle to craft lines
To have poems that are comprehendable

Come dreaded editing
Each line becomes faceted
To have poems that are comprehendable
but may have the reader run away sleepless

Each line becomes faceted
My mind full of cheese
Readers run away sleepless
The inspired scrapings of whirlwinds

Great Flood of 2011

Some things we cannot know.

Some know.  Some think they know.

Some things are better unknown.

Mid-afternoon, under a summer sky

where three states shake hands

under the watchful eye of Chief War Eagle

miles from the Muddy Missouri’s banks,

you pull off the highway

to investigate flooded fields of maize.

Snowmelt in the northern Rockies

& rain – a year’s worth in three weeks-

swallow its way across the Plains

engorge reservoirs and dams

Here we stand, gone a decade

Sand bagging & prayers were not enough.

Baseball fields along Nebraska banks

abandoned – soil too toxic for children to play ball.

Once-tree lined bike paths from South Dakota

to Iowa reminiscent of an apocalyptic film

This is what it’s like to lose it all

Perfect/ prompt 23/ 7 am

In as much as we would like

Nothing is perfect in any light

Only God can boast of this

And even then He doesn’t do it

We try our best to live our lives

But we forget our life is His life

It is His will and not our own

That leads our life unto the throne

We are all covered by His love

It’s us that fail to lift Him up

If only we would just obey

We’d be closer to salvation one day

I pray that all will see the truth

Repent and learn about His plan

For then and only then we’ll be

Aligned with God the great “I am”

The Lord’s Day (Hour 24)

Sunday morning.
Again, you didn’t make it to church.
It’s the third week in a row
You’ve missed Sunday service.
You said it was too cold to go to church.
You did go out, though, to visit with your girlfriend,
Ignoring your mother’s words:
It’s the Lord’s Day, son. Go to church, or go nowhere.
The showers drenched you, and Hannah wasn’t home.
You stood waiting outside the door, worsening the cold.
Now the meds say it’s bronchitis,
Your mom says it’s God’s wrath
Because you’ve lost regard for Sunday.

Hour 24 (I wanna love you)

There is a roof over our heads
There is food on the table
There is source of income
I wanna know now
I got to know now
I am willing and able
I wanna Love you every day and every night
Is this love that I am feeling
I got to know now

Tenderness

I am gentle with most
I am firm with those who need it

To myself, I am savage
Every mistake is a marr, a sin

Sometimes I wish
I could show myself half the tenderness
That I give to others
