7 Come on Mom

Come on Mom
just a bite, please?
It’s good for me –
full of fiber and water
with just a touch of sweetness.
I don’t ask for much
just some love
and an occassional
watermelon snack.

Rosemary for Rembrance

Prompt 7

(The 10th non-selfie photo in my mobile is of a Rosemary)

I haven’t a sunflower for cheer

Or the warmth of a shared beer

I have but a lonesome tear

 Smiles of a memory dear

I have not a drop

Of acceptance

Nor the pleasure

Of your sight

I have only a Rosemary

At night

Lavendar pigmented

Hour 7 – Where Did Time Go – Image Prompt

Maybe we had love wrong

Maybe just a little.

It’s not the heart pounding

Butterflies in your stomach

Feeling that we had when we met

The anticipation of your lips on mine

For the first time

Maybe it’s not the hand holding

The dates and dances

Jumping in puddles in the rain

The feeling of you on me and me on you

Maybe it’s made up of these moments

Where we just exist together

The two of us

In the mist looking out on life

Separate yet whole

United against nothing, just comfortable

Happy to be ourselves.

Maybe we got love right in the long run.

7th hour – A poem and a painting (Image prompt)

Hour glass lightening

Quick sand flighting

As we sit here i want to count the colours of the forest before us, and paint with them, the wonder of the sun looking through your eyes as you write me a poem like you always do while we hold two sides of a beautiful vision; one side of a song.

So the hour glass matters naught

the moving sand does not count

A poem and a painting is enough

transcending the vestige of the lie; the seeming momentariness of our song.

A poem and a painting.

A Purrfect Homecoming

I had two cats, Bliss and Marvin,
both are now deceased.

Bliss always went missing. Probably
escaping from Marvin, whom she
usually disliked.

One night Bliss was found,
reluctantly allowing a neighbour
to carry her home.

She quickly scurried inside,
finding her throne at the landing
of the carpeted staircase.

Marvin approached with caution,
knowing the wraith within Bliss.

He calmly inched forward to sniff
the world he was too timid to be
trusted in.

No resistance was given.

Perhaps the old girl was
too sleepy to stay fierce.

I like to think, deep down,
there was some love
for her little brother.

Lost

I wish we could be together

I wish forever was actually lasted forever

I wish you didn’t feel like a figment of my imagination

I wish love wasn’t such a complication

I wish we both had the will and the strength

To go to every and all lengths

To fight for each other

Because you are my one  and only lover

But alas we are both powerless on our knees

This love we cannot sieze

Never to together  feel the calming wave of peace

Because now our love is uncontrollably  deceased

You & I (Hour 7)

We sit,
just you & I,
in this shade
whose tree we
do not know
do not see
do not care.

The leaves, variegated
in the smouldering sun,
dance lazily
over our heads,
just the two of us,
our eyes set in
same direction.

It may seem to them
we stare into empty space
but what do we care?
just you & I
know what we seek
where our gaze is turned
and I remember
what you said
that took our eyes there.

Sea Monsters (6 of 12, half marathon, attempt at prose poem)

Marine biologists found a sea monster on the coast of China. It was dead and badly decomposed, gargantuan in size, and with a stench, so foul, people who came to view the creature cupped their hands over their mouths and noses. A man wearing wire-rim glasses and a bow tie said it was a form of whale—how important to catalogue all living things. Who’s to say it’s a leviathan just because of its large jaw bone? New species emerge all the time, not just coral and sponges—referred to as the trees of the sea—but also Loriciferans that live without oxygen, once thought impossible except by the simple, single-celled bacteria. They’ve found prehistoric fish, believed to be extinct, still swimming the sea. And consider the Turritopsis dohrnii. Scientists say it’s immortal; more factually stated, it never dies. This jellyfish with its free flowing tentacles moves with grace, continuously regenerating. Shall we worship it, a god; declare it undead or resurrected? The spectators in China nodded their approval for the beast now identified and categorized. They kept their hands over their faces; breathe recirculated air from their palms back into their body cavity.

Haikus on Marriage

Married five decades

Just as happy now as then

How do they do that?

Growing old together

Love’s mysteries discovered

Blessed marriage
