Hour 13 (2021)

Acrostic
Death personified.

Dark eyes drill into me
Everything around me blurs
As he makes his way across the room
Too bad no one else sees him
He’s finally come for me.

Nobody likes to be Chained

I swear, what was written tastes better than apple
served by the hands of a lover.
I know men who mistook their stupidity for cleverness.
I am against nothing but a man who doesn’t feel
the end of this poem as the end of a system.
I am not a prophet of doom but this earth is a dying man.
What to save from it is Himalayan.
To be brief say: self and others.
And to pronounce a word, alphabets must be kissing –
You’d first save yourself to be eligible to save others.
We are pacing, leaving what was written behind
for dance on the alter of guilt. Years from now,
a rat might eat the pages of prophecy and be fulfilled.
Will it be honey for my people to perish because what
they call wisdom is the spirit behind a bird’s mocking song?

Ghost stories

They’re fun when you’re a kid

listening to the counselors trying

to scare you with some guy crouching behind a bush in the woods

and then as you grow up, you realize

the real horror stories transpire

every day

all around you:

murder, rape, genocide and the like

but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t strive

because the majority are decent, honest

people with integrity and they are

the ones who will

write the history

books in

the

end.

Release (Hour 16)

Release

By: LuvMiFreely

(Hour 16)

It’s been a dull day

Feeling like all types of beige

Full of blah

The feeling of being trapped in a cage

I need to escape this abyss

I grab my headphones

Slip them over my ears and press play

The sound waves wash over me

I close my eyes and feel the vibes

Every bit of the rhythm fills my bones

I rock to the beat

Zoned out as I sing along

Snapping my fingers

Swaying my hips

Painting the room with color

The blues I felt now only feel like a hue

My feet moving on queue

Feeling lifted

The caged bird has been freed

Fruit Plate

A Limerick

Fruit Plate

An orange met a pear on a plate.

It wasn’t a great first date.

Orange stormed home.

Left pear alone.

Pear shouldn’t have mentioned her weight.

Something just like this

Is what we all crave.

It’s intelligent, cathartic

something we all dream of

but it’s not easy to obtain.

it’s far off in the distance

but that never stopped us from trying

before

so why should now be any different?

Speed of Sound

It’s faster than you can hear

and louder than you can run.

Block out all distractions, concentrate fully and

you just might be able to detect it.

It comes and goes on a whim whenever it

wants.

not that you asked for it.

not that it cares.

but it makes its own way in the world

figuring out its purpose and learning

what it means to truly exist.

It doesn’t play by anyone’s rules or

even the laws of physics, for that matter

but if you understand what it’s all about, you’ll

realize what makes it the most beautiful thing in the world.

Beam Me Up Scotty

You too can say, “Take her out Mr. Chekov,” or “I need more power Scotty,” and even “Put me in warp drive Mr. Sulu.”

No, not on the Starship Enterprise, but on Elon Musk’s Crew Dragon and not to distant galaxies but to the International Space Station, for ten days.

Because the difference between men and boys are their toys and space travel is in vogue.

You can boldly go where no Billionaire has gone before for only fifty five million dollars.

(Please hum the theme from Star Trek. That would only be logical.)

Hour 16: Wind Tickles

Wind tickles me

With icy fingers;

The shivers shake me

Inside this quivering skin.

That light brush of breath

Along the hairs

Sucks away my warmth

Trailing through my blood.

A dangerous kiss of winter

Taming a burning blaze

Into a frozen fire.
