Hour 16: A Bond of Strength and Love

I grow, you grow, we grow together,
When you are down I will be there,
Just lean on me when you are weak.

Stronger, we are together,
For our bond feeds our strength,
The closer we are, the longer our bond lives.

In this field of many, we stand out,
None of the others have such a connection,
For they stand strong, but alone.

No, we are not afraid to show such a prominent display of affection,
For we are a signal of support,
Presenting that such adoration and strength cannot be acquired alone.

Prompt 16, Hour 16 – Changed

Neither desired for possession,

or needed for sustenance,

the sentiment is self sustained.

You are neither to blame or be thanked.

For you did nothing more,

than remain as you are.

And yet what a gift that is!

And yet what brilliance you shared with me,

so unknowingly.

Like the resplendent ocean,

I felt it ebb and flow into calmness

and rock and crash with turbulence –

all magnificent.

Worthy of the dive, the study and the praise.

Like the Saharan spirit,

I am marked in the decadence of heat and light.

Touched with seductive mounts and curves.

Forever playing into the temperaments of my condition –

blazing days, and bone chilling nights.

I carry with you, the experiences

of a thousand and one nights,

and the hopes of a thousand days.

I remain dreaming, without being afraid.

Poem 16 | {Our Haven}

By Ajanta Judd All Rights Reserved – 2 pm 28/06 Australian EST

Prompt 16; Hour 16: Write a poem about love, without ever using the word love in it.

{Our Haven}

Random specks within this vastness

We are

bound by a commonality rare amongst the hoards

Significant and endearing

Meaningful and promising

Sharing an oasis of mutuality in the midst of solitary experience

To be nurtured

Protected

Harvested

We must not become a threatened species

We must not allow the incessant tug of obligation

and the demands of ordinary, everyday existence pale our significance.

Let’s forestall this eventuality

May we rejoice

May we expand

May we be uplifted

Let the power of our feelings for each other

be like a glue that flows between separateness

so that we are immersed in the current of this treasure’s gentle flow

Sacred is this bond

Two hearts in wait throughout eons

Together we shall worship this communion.

Young Affection

that stupid messy hair
has bothered her for weeks
she can’t stop drawing
his hands pushing unruly curls
he doesn’t ask her to smile
when they take a selfie
only adjusts the angle
about 400 times
the end result
is worth it
he gives her every pickle
from his burgers
because she likes the crunch
the vinegar and salt
his family is funny
so generous
with the little they can give
he makes her smile
most days
and when he can’t
he brings her gifts
of quiet
and time
to sort the sadness out
he isn’t always perfect
forgets some things
rarely on time
fails all his planned
Big Gestures
but she isn’t either
snaps when she’s hangry
isn’t good with feelings
has to slowly learn
to trust
she cuts his hair
in quarantine
long enough to curl
he frames her sketch
the two of them
wrapped up in a hug

Butterflies

Never knew how it felt,

The feeling of getting butterflies in you stomach,

The will to let go of everything,

Just to hold on to someone,

Thought it all would be like a dream,

Reality was different,

It is like being calm,

The essence of it never change,

Though it takes many shapes,

The butterflies keep fluttering,

until the end of time….

Half Marathon My Hour 4

All my poems have been fairly short so far! This one was inspired by the hour 16 prompt. I don’t know that it exactly matches that prompt but I like how it turned out.

You

I don’t know what we could be

I don’t know what we are

I know you enter my mind

I know you make me pause

I don’t know what you think

I don’t know what I think

I know I want something

I know you could be it

I don’t know me

I don’t know you

I know me

I know you

Amour – hour 16, prompt 16

It is patient

and so kind

an arm around you

when you’re tired

a simple gesture

just because

doing the laundry

mopping the floors

a dozen red ones

or chocolate s’mores

an evening out

when life’s a bore

is something you’ll

forever adore

it does not anger

doesn’t keep track

of any mistakes

or traits we lack

instead forgives

with gentle word and hand

and always hugs

and understands

protecting all, house and home

opening car doors

shielding from harm

when daylight’s gone

it trusts and hopes

when times are hard

that together

we’ll get better

it takes two, we’re told

to have

and especially to hold

it never fails for those who see

in each other’s eyes, eternity.

Love?

Heart flutters.

Tightness controls.

Can’t think about anything but you.

Long time not eating although simple it is more complex.

Sick With You, hour 16

Quarantine my heart with yours darling

Let’s isolate together and let the world outside fade away

Turn off the news

Forget about the future

Intertwine your soul with mine and focus soley on today

The here and now

The power of connection when our fingers touch

Shuddering rush

Eat from fruit of you until your skin is flushed

It’s all too much

But not enough

I see you blush when I sit next to you

When you’re just texting someone else

You might be detrimental to my health

I think I’m starving

You’re too charming

Cast a spell on my attention

Can’t release you from my thoughts

What you are is everything that I am not

Got me on lockdown

And as the world gets more uncertain

Chaos reigns

The times get hectic

You  will always be my beautiful pandemic
