Hour 23: Stone Hare

I’m forever playing catch-up to the tortoise
held back and back the faster my mind races on

and it seems I only run on empty
or not at all

I have ever been indentured to the slaves
held down and down the farther my spirit roams on

and it seems I only run on empty
or not at all

22. The Master and the Maid

Still she stood as the master ordered
Her helper’s overalls were exchanged for a black revealing gown
Bought from the Maiden Fair store
Her master was an artist
Everyone knew him
She was privileged to work for him they said
She wondered what the privilege was
To stand for hours in a dress she was coerced to wear
First with bribes, then threats
She succumbed; she had brothers and sisters to feed
She stood with rage running through her veins
Be still, don’t shake he said
She stood still, planning in her head
On how to purchase
The powder they said that can’t be detected
When given in small amounts over a long period of time
A tiny smile appeared on her face
He captured it succinctly though not knowing why

Wordless

Searching for the words
The one’s I’ve left to write
The one’s still trapped inside
Fighting to find light

I can bear them calling
Sense the images they paint
I can sense the being
Tongue speaks of as faint

Orchestrated motion
To perfect setting sun
Storm cannot stir
What has not begun

Prompt 23

You’ve got me wrapped

Around those tiny little hands

And while I am not there now,

I just hope you can understand

Sometimes isolation is the cost

Of being a better woman.

I love you and

I miss you more than I planned.

#21 The Most Exaggerated Poem EVER!

She went to all of the best places,

sipped the very finest champagne.

While she knew she was the most gorgeous,

everyone described her as “most vain”.

The “Happiest Woman EVER”.

The headlines always read.

All were shocked by her finale,

by her own hand she’s totally dead!

Blue

Blue

is the

colour

of my

heart.

I tried

to colour

it green

once,

a colour

of renewal,

life and

hope

but the

crayon

was broken,

dull

and

useless.

I’ve gotten

used to

my

blue heart.

You can

get used

to

anything

if you

have

to.

23. Gold Plated

I never (don’t say it) I never
had ever hoped to be without you like
I am now. You, sitting high with your God
Praising praises and good works (mother, do not encourage this)
and shit. All of it. You can have my empire of dirt and mud,
because you are so sure what you believe. Everything that was
fed to us (with a silver spoon, do not be unaware of that). So
positive of the mythology (and it’s all mythology) are you.
I want the girl who cursed. I want the girl strung out on conspiracy theories.
I’ll take the demons. I want them. Give them to me.
I want the girl with the darkness before it consumed
her and turned her into a golden plated hypocrite.

Wolfe

Morning Glory

Sunshine kisses my skin

The warm breath of Mother Nature kisses my neck, face, arms, and legs.

Light caresses land like butterflies on delicate flowers.

Beauty and nature is found where you choose to look for it.

Awaken your senses and breathe it in deep.

HOUR15

A myth’s impact

Zeus himself came to earth

to conceive him with a mortal

and Hera hated her husband

for doing so, but the child was born

and he was named Hercules.

He had the power of gods,

but the heart of a man.

His labours are well-known

and nobody was braver.

I think that Venus also

offered him much beauty,

as in movies he is handsome,

not only strong and determined!

A Writer’s Body

Most of my life, I’ve been petite.

 A dancer, personal trainer,

five-foot-three, size two.

Then I became a writer.

Paid to sit and pen my words.

I’ve put on thirty-pounds over two years.

Honestly, I love writing, it’s the perfect job.

But I must say, I do miss my dancer’s body.
